ROUNDUP: Deem, Beck lead way as Spring Valley boys take down Rancho

J.R. Deem and Brett Beck each won two events Thursday to lead Spring Valley’s boys swim team to a 141-111 win over Rancho at Multi-Generational.

Deem won the 100-yard freestyle in 53.62 seconds and 200 freestyle in 1:50.37.

Beck was first in the 100 butterfly in 53.67 and 100 backstroke in 53.84.

Foothill 204, Durango 67 — At Multi-Generational, the Falcons swept the relays en route to a win over the Trailblazers.

Durango’s Andrew Ward won the 200 individual medley (2:12.98) and 500 freestyle (5:14.59).

Las Vegas 165, Canyon Springs 108 — At Multi-Generational, the Wildcats won eight events, including all three relays, to down the Pioneers.

Canyon Springs’ Alejandro Morales was first in the 200 individual medley in 2:41.31 and 100 breaststroke in 1:14.99.

Sunrise Mountain 108, Desert Pines 100 — At Multi-Generational, the Miners used their depth to edge the Jaguars despite winning only three of 10 contested events.

Desert Pines’ Guillermo Guevara was first in the 200 individual medley (3:19.37) and 50 freestyle (29.12), and teammate Tim Watson took the 500 freestyle (7:31.63) and 100 breaststroke (1:31.43).
