ROUNDUP: Grothe, Peterson help Eagles overtake Gators

Zane Grothe and Drew Peterson each won two individual events Saturday at Heritage to help Boulder City’s boys swimming team to a 173-142 win over Green Valley.

Grothe took the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 45.18 seconds and the 500 freestyle in 4:42.14. Peterson captured the 100 butterfly (52.81) and 100 backstroke (56.27). The Eagles also swept the three relays.

Green Valley’s Robert Hommel won the 200 individual medley (1:56.78) and 100 breaststroke (58.66).

Foothill 226, Liberty 71 — At Heritage, Zach Stone and Zach Jones each won twice as the Falcons blitzed the Patriots.

Stone took the 50 freestyle (24.55) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.09), and Jones captured the 100 freestyle (53.36) and 200 individual medley (2:24.47).

Basic 182, Tech 98 — At Heritage, Carlos Guzman won the 100 butterfly in 1:10.78 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.28 to lift the Wolves past the Roadrunners.

Bonanza 214, Desert Oasis 73 — At Muncipal, Sam Wieser and Aaron Bame each captured two events to lead the Bengals past the Diamondbacks.

Wieser won the 100 butterfly (55.44) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.4), and Bame was first in the 200 individual medley (2:27.87) and 100 backstroke (1:05.71).

Spring Valley 124, Clark 109 — At Muncipal, Dylan Wolf, Brett Beck and Jesse Dwyer each won two events as the Grizzlies beat the Chargers.

Wolf won the 100 freestyle (48.37) and 100 backstroke (55.68), Beck won the 200 individual medley (2:11.08) and 100 butterfly (55.16), and Dwyer captured the 500 freestyle (5:01.18) and 200 freestyle (1:50.05).

Spring Valley won every event except one.

Durango 177, Sierra Vista 88 — At Municipal, Andrew Ward and Matt Dangleis each won two events as the Trailblazers beat the Mountain Lions.

Ward won the 200 freestyle (2:01.1) and 500 freestyle (5:30.62), and Dangleis was first in the 100 butterfly (57.5) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.84).

Durango also swept the relays.

Sierra Vista’s Emile Maritz captured the 200 individual medley (2:06.04) and 100 backstroke (56.97).

Coronado 218, Del Sol 59 — At Multi-Generational, the Cougars won every event to dominate the Dragons.

Brandon Sarnecky won the 100 freestyle (52.07) and 50 freestyle (23.61), and Jacob Luna was first in the 500 freestyle (4:55.24) and 100 breaststroke (1:04.98) to lead Coronado.

Silverado 232, Sunrise Mountain 5 — At Multi-Generational, Ben Hensel, Jacob Jezek and Brandon Stitt each won two events as the Skyhawks routed the Miners.

Hensel won the 100 butterfly (58.16) and 100 backstroke (59.19), Jezek took the top spot in the 50 freestyle (25.37) and 100 freestyle (54.62), and Stitt placed first in the 200 freestyle (2:05.08) and 500 freestyle (5:43.7).

Arbor View 202½, Shadow Ridge 96½ — At Desert Breeze, Brian Martinez won the 200 individual medley (1:58.31) and 100 breaststroke (1:00.45) to lead the Aggies past the Mustangs.

Shadow Ridge’s Wyatt DuVall placed first in the 100 backstroke (57.54) and 200 freestyle (1:46.79).

Cimarron-Memorial 147, Centennial 111 — At Desert Breeze, Daniel Bouchard and McKay Prestwich each won two events to help the Spartans get past the Bulldogs.

Bouchard won the 50 freestyle (25.03) and 100 freestyle (57.0), and Prestwich was first in the 100 backstroke (1:05.3) and 100 breaststroke (1:16.45).

Centennial’s Logan Pankhurst won the 100 butterfly (1:02.55) and 500 freestyle (5:14.76).

Legacy 130, Faith Lutheran 105 — At Desert Breeze, the Longhorns won seven events, including all three relays, to down the Crusaders.

Faith Lutheran’s Nick Price was first in the 200 individual medley 2:24.69) and 100 freestyle (55.6).

Palo Verde 186, Bishop Gorman 100 — At Desert Breeze, Gianni Sesto and Cody Miller each won two events to lead the Panthers past the Gaels.

Sesto placed first in the 200 individual medley (2:01.18) and 100 backstroke (54.94), and Miller won the 200 freestyle (1:47.08) and 50 freestyle (22.4).

Canyon Springs 103, Chaparral 80 — At Multi-Generational, Jonathon Inchaurregui won the 200 freestyle (2:17.44) and 500 freestyle (6:52.69) to lead the Pioneers past the Cowboys.

Chaparral’s Willy Alvarado took the 100 butterfly (1:11.6) and 100 backstroke (1:33.32), and teammate Justin Dean won the 200 individual medley (2:58.84) and 100 freestyle (1:06.6).
