ROUNDUP: Two-race trio helps Palo Verde boys cruise past Durango

Andrew Chin, Cody Miller and Gianni Sesto each won two individual events Saturday to lead Palo Verde’s boys swimming team to a 202-92 victory over Durango at Municipal.

Chin claimed the 100-yard butterfly (56.44 seconds) and the 200 freestyle (1:50.23). Miller captured the 100 breaststroke (1:01.78) and 200 individual medley  (2:03.02), and Sesto took the 50 (21.66) and 100 freestyle (51.26) events.

The Panthers also swept the three relays and won all but one of the 12 events.

Silverado 171, Foothill 134 — At Heritage, Joe Hensel and Ben Hensel each took a pair of individual events as Silverado topped Foothill.

Joe Hensel won the 200 freestyle (2:02.31) and 100 backstroke (1:01.16). Ben Hensel claimed the 100 freestyle (51.53) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.67).

Basic 161, Liberty 76 — At Heritage, Travis Taitano and Carlos Guzman each won twice to lift Basic past Liberty.

Taitano finished first in the 50 (24.40) and 100 freestyle (53.97) events, and Guzman claimed the 100 breaststroke (1:12.48) and 100 butterfly (1:10.59).

Boulder City 182, Coronado 112 — At Heritage, Dylan Bunch took both the 200 (1:49.12) and 500 freestyles (4:44.44) as Boulder City topped the Cougars.

Coronado’s Jacob Luna won the 50 freestyle (21.96) and 100 butterfly (51.12).

Green Valley 210, Tech 64 — At Multi-Generational, Robert Hommel took the 100 freestyle (47.39) and the 100 butterfly (52.57) as Green Valley swept all 12 events and defeated the Roadrunners.

Arbor View 147½, Centennial 133½ — At Desert Breeze, Gabe Falkner scored 268.2 points to win the diving event, and the Aggies won the 200 freestyle relay to defeat the Bulldogs.

Centennial’s William Gravely won the 200 freestyle (1:56.32) and 500 freestyle (5:00.07) and teammate Logan Pankhurst won the 100 butterfly (1:02.75) and 200 individual medley (2:19.72).

Bishop Gorman 149, Bonanza 133 — At Desert Breeze, Ivan Sergeyevsky won the 200 individual medley (2:10.15) and 500 freestyle (5:22.95) to lead the Gaels past the Bengals.

Bonanza’s Sam Wieser won the 100 breaststroke (57.03) and 100 backstroke (1:03.63).

Shadow Ridge 175, Cimarron-Memorial 111 — At Desert Breeze, Brent Buff won the 50 freestyle (27.08) and 100 freestyle (1:00.86), and the Mustangs swept the relays to defeat the Spartans.

Legacy 110, Mojave 21 — At Desert Breeze, Matthew Brents, Brandon Stowell and Taylor Webb each won two events to help the Longhorns easily dispatch the Rattlers.

Brents won the 200 individual medley (2:55.5) and 100 breaststroke (1:18.0), Stowell won the 50 freestyle (26.98) and 100 butterfly (1:20.0) and Webb took first in the 100 freestyle (54.67) and 100 backstroke (1:05.0).

Desert Oasis 112, Western 89 — At Municipal, Dayne Brown and Alex Daugherty each won two events to lead the Diamondbacks past the Warriors.

Brown won the 100 freestyle (1:06.35) and 200 freestyle (2:35.93), and Daugherty was first in the 100 butterfly (1:12.22) and 500 freestyle (6:38.57).

Faith Lutheran 148, Clark 114 — At Municipal, Dylan Barnes won the 100 butterfly (57.56) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.54) to lead the Crusaders past the Chargers.

Clark’s Billy Wang picked up wins in the 200 individual medley (2:15.34) and 100 backstroke (59.35).

Canyon Springs 83, Desert PInes 72 — At Multi-Generational, Jonathan Inchaurregui won the 200 freestyle (2:23.99) and 500 freestyle (7:05.12) to lead the Pioneers past the Jaguars.

Desert Pines’ Joseph Pickens won the 100 butterfly (1:25.27) and 100 backstroke (1:25.68), and teammate Daniel Barahona won the 100 freestyle (1:01.96) and 100 breaststroke (1:29.02).

Rancho 98, Eldorado 93 — At Multi-Generational, Estuardo Florez and Mavrik Thomas each won two events as the Rams edged the Sundevils.

Florez picked up first-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (25.4) and 100 butterfly (1:17.94). Thomas placed first in the 500 freestyle (6:21.5) and 100 backstroke (1:10.42).

Valley 80, Virgin Valley 39 — At Multi-Generational, Vincent Owyong, Alex Blomquist and Nick Freeman each won two events to help the Vikings cruise past the Bulldogs.

Owyong won the 50 freestyle (27.58) and 100 freestyle (1:03.33), Blomquist won the 500 freestyle (7:14.48) and 100 backstroke (1:25.53), and Freeman won the 200 freestyle (2:19.31) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.34).
