SWIMMING: Cabalo carries Spring Valley boys past Trailblazers

Nicholas Cabalo won two individual events at Municipal on Saturday to lead Spring Valley’s boys swimming team to a 119-107 win over Durango.

Cabalo won the 100-yard backstroke in 1 minute, 1.73 seconds and the 500 freestyle in 5:12.43.

The Trailblazers’ Carlos Garcia took the 200 freestyle in 2:13.32 and the 100 butterfly in 58.97.

Sunrise Mountain 140, Chaparral 84 — At Municipal, Adam Horito won the 100 backstroke in 1:22.54 and the 500 freestyle in 7:24.92 to help the Miners top the Cowboys.

Tech 127, Moapa Valley 33 — At Municipal, Bradley Frakes, Xavier Villalobos and Jonas Macias each won twice as the Roadrunners downed the Pirates.

Frakes took the 200 freestyle in 2:07.44 and the 500 freestyle in 5:56.53. Villalobos won the 100 backstroke in 1:13.49 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:31.8, and Macias captured the 100 freestyle in 1:02.53 and the 200 individual medley in 2:35.48.

Virgin Valley 118, Desert Pines 45 — At Municipal, Nick White won the 50 freestyle in 24.71 and the 100 freestyle in 58.15 to lead the Bulldogs by the Jaguars.

Boulder City 192, Palo Verde 108 — At Desert Breeze, the Eagles swept the swimming events to top the Panthers.

Sam Sauerbrei, Joe Gebhart and Jeremy Estes each won two events to lead the Eagles.

Sauerbrei was first in the 200 individual medley (2:02.56) and 100 butterfly (54.02), Estes won the 200 freestyle (1:48.49) and 100 freestyle (47.01), and Gebhart took the 50 freestyle (22.38) and 100 backstroke (55.81).

Palo Verde 174, Arbor View 135— At Desert Breeze, Bryce Rogers, Thomas Finley and Luke Trafton each won twice to help the Panthers defeat the Aggies.

Rogers won the 200 individual medley (2:14.94) and 500 freestyle (5:36.02), Finley took the 50 freestyle (23.62) and 100 breaststroke (1:04.18) and Trafton was first in the 100 freestyle (49.49) and 100 backstroke (57.31).

Coronado 203, Liberty 77 — At Multi-Generational, Jake Chir and Nick Moorehead each won two events to help the Cougars top the Patriots.

Chir was first in the 200 individual medley (2:03.18) and 100 backstroke (55.68), and Moorehead won the 100 breaststroke (1:02.27) and 100 butterfly (55.34).

Canyon Springs 159, Valley 100 — At Multi-Generational, Austin Burgueno won the 200 individual medley (2:22.76) and 100 butterfly (1:00.54) to help the Pioneers defeat the Vikings.

Silverado 186, Rancho 95 — At Multi-Generational, the Skyhawks swept the relays to defeat the Rams.

Rancho’s Joseph Guthro won the 100 butterfly (56.75) and 500 freestyle (5:10.22), and teammate Nicholas Young took the 200 freestyle (2:04.96) and 100 breaststroke (1:14.01).

Basic 206, Del Sol 32 — At Multi-Generational, Liam Wetzel and Hubert Hetmanczyk won two events apiece, and the Wolves swept the relays on the way to a win over the Dragons.

Wetzel posted impressive times in the 50 freestyle (22.8) and 100 freestyle (49.22), while Hetmanczyk won the 200 individual medley in 2:30.31 and took the 100 butterfly in 1:02.19.

Del Sol’s lone winner was Jason Xiong in the 500 freestyle (5:59.84).

Green Valley 150, Las Vegas 128 — At Multi-Generational, Scott Budshaw won the 100 freestyle (50.92) and 100 backstroke (57.73), and the Gators took eight of nine individual events to edge the Wildcats.

Sean Ryan Samia won the 50 freestyle in 22.55 for Las Vegas.

Foothill 208, Eldorado 89 — At Multi-Generational, Jacob Ozuna and Daniel Vaughn each won two events, and the Falcons cruised past the Sundevils.

Ozuna touched the wall in 53.34 to take the 100 freestyle and captured the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.9. Vaughn pulled off a difficult double, winning the 200 freestyle (1:50.62) and the 100 butterfly (59.18).

Shadow Ridge 190, Sierra Vista 93 — At Multi-Generational, the Mustangs won two relays and used their superior depth to beat the Mountain Lions.

Paris Goodwin won the 200 individual medley in 2:20.96 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.58 for Sierra Vista.

Cimarron-Memorial 168, Desert Oasis 75 — At Desert Breeze, Douglas Vanderhyde won the 200 individual medley (2:19.58) and 100 butterfly (1:03.05) to lead the Spartans over the Diamondbacks.

Faith Lutheran 153, Cheyenne 123 — At Desert Breeze, Bowen Becker won the 50 freestyle (23.37) and 100 freestyle (54.22) to lead the Crusaders past the Desert Shields.

Cheyenne’s Morgan Thompson won the 200 individual medley (2:16.55) and 100 butterfly (1:00.27).

Longhorns down Bonanza, Centennial
At Desert Breeze, Jordan Webb, Patrick Beaty and Garret Jones each won two events to lead Legacy to wins over Centennial and Bonanza.

The Longhorns beat Bonanza 178-43, and topped Centennial, 175-118.

Webb won the 50 freestyle (23.94) and 100 butterfly (1:03.5), Beaty took the 200 individual medley (2:14.82) and 500 freestyle (5:17.9), and Jones won the 200 freestyle (2:01.22) and 100 backstroke (1:00.72).
