SWIMMING: Cairncross, Claiborne help Mojave boys defeat Warriors

Tyler Cairncross and Mason Claiborne each won two individual events Wednesday to lead Mojave’s boys swimming team to a 99-93 win over Western at Adelson School.

Cairncross won the 200-meter freestyle in 2 minutes, 49.63 seconds and the 400 freestyle in 5:55.29, and Claiborne placed first in the 200 individual medley (2:35.72) and the 100 backstroke (1:13.28) for the Rattlers.

Western’s Jonathan Pizano won the 100 breaststroke in 1:41.06.

Cheyenne 86, Adelson School 71 — At Adelson School, Aidan Nartker placed first in two events as the Desert Shields topped the Lions.

Nartker won the 100 breaststroke (1:27.57) and the 100 butterfly (1:16.72).

Benjamin Khavkin won the 200 individual medley (2:46.20) and the 100 freestyle (1:06.05) for Adelson School.

GIRLS

Western 118, Mojave 104 — At Adelson School, Shylee Garcia won the 50 freestyle in 37.45 and the 100 freestyle in 1:24.22 as the Warriors downed the Rattlers.

Mojave’s Allison O’Neal won the 100 backstroke (1:48.52) and the 400 freestyle (7:26.08), and teammate Megan McClellan was first in the 200 freestyle (3:16.10) and the 100 breaststroke (1:56.97).

Adelson School 129, Cheyenne 64 — At Adelson School, Michelle Aizenberg and Morgan Chudd both won two individual events in the Lions’ victory over the Desert Shields.

Aizenberg won the 200 individual medley in 3:22.24 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:43.99, and Chudd won the 100 butterfly (1:16.07) and the 50 freestyle (30.01) for Adelson School.

Cheyenne’s Tallyn Clark was first in the 100 backstroke (1:17.92) and the 400 freestyle (6:10.29).
