SWIMMING: Kankoski leads Adelson School boys to win

Morgan Kankoski won two individual events Wednesday to lift host Adelson School’s boys swimming team to a 96-66 win over Moapa Valley.

Kankoski was first in the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 39.5 seconds, and captured the 100 breaststroke in 1:32.1.

Cheyenne 131, Western 16 — At Adelson School, Benjamin Reed and Cody Johns each won two events to lead the Desert Shields by the Warriors.

Reed took the 100 breaststroke (1:31.69) and the 100 butterfly (1:49.63), and Johns captured the 100 backstroke (1:24.46) and the 500 freestyle (6:18.95).

Western’s Marco Quintanilla won the 50 freestyle (31.99) and the 100 freestyle (1:13.73).

GIRLS

Adelson School 133, Moapa Valley 66 — At Adelson School, Sophie Jorgensen, Leemor Aizenberg and Camryn Armstrong won two individual events apiece to lead the Lions by the Pirates.

Jorgensen won the 100 backstroke (1:28.45) and the 200 individual medley (3:08.74). Aizenberg captured the 100 butterfly (1:21.39) and the 100 breaststroke (1:40.24). Armstrong claimed the 50 freestyle (37.04) and the 100 freestyle (1:17.29).

Western 98, Cheyenne 89 — At Adelson School, Jessica Moreno won the 200 individual medley in 3:35.1 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:42.01 to lead the Warriors by the Desert Shields.
