GIRLS SWIMMING: Chaparral wins final event to edge Tech

Chaparral won the final event — the 400-yard freestyle relay — and that was enough to lift the Cowboys’ girls swimming team to a 114-110 victory over Tech on Tuesday at Multi-Generational.

The team of Christina Abusada, Gabby Hernandez, Mara Moya and Lana Simmonds touched first in 5 minutes, 9.34 seconds for Chaparral, which trailed 105-104 entering the event.

Hernandez won the 50 freestyle in 32.34 and also was first in the 100 freestyle (1:12.11).

Natalie Mowery of Tech was first in the 100 butterfly (1:21.32) and 500 freestyle (7:27.02).

Coronado 200, Basic 79 — At Multi-Generational, Tayler Luna won two events, and the Cougars swept the three relays to cruise past the Wolves.

Luna was first in the 200 freestyle in 1:59.60 and also won the 100 butterfly (1:01.59).

Basic’s Michaela Day won the 500 freestyle (5:29.03) and 100 breaststroke (1:15.27).

Virgin Valley 139, Desert Pines 46 — At Multi-Generational, Sydney Ludvigson won two events to help the Bulldogs top the Jaguars.

Ludvigson touched first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:53.01 and also won the 100 backstroke uncontested in 1:17.94.

Anna Snavely won the 200 freestyle (2:16.65) and 500 freestyle (6:02.00) for Desert Pines.

Green Valley 202, Silverado 61 — At Multi-Generational, Victoria Navarro and Elizabeth Clinch each won two events as the Gators topped the Skyhawks.

Navarro was first in the 200 freestyle (1:54.44) and 100 butterfly (57.68), and Clinch won the 200 individual medley (2:09.12) and 500 freestyle (5:16.49).

Eldorado 141, Cheyenne 55 — At Multi-Generational, Katherine Davila and Tallyn Clark each won two individual events, and the Sundevils swept the relays to defeat the Desert Shields.

Davila won the 50 freestyle (32.97) and 500 freestyle (7:31.91), and Clark took the 100 butterfly (1:01.14) and 100 backstroke (1:08.79)
