GIRLS SWIMMING: Relay win helps Basic tie Liberty

Basic’s girls swimming team captured the final event of the day Saturday to earn a 122-122 tie with Liberty at Multi-Generational.

The Wolves won the 400-yard freestyle relay in 5 minutes, 2.4 seconds, beating the Patriots by just less than 19 seconds to earn 10 points in the event and salvage the tie.

Basic’s Melanie Harris won the 500 freestyle in 5:15.45 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.4.

Liberty’s Maggie Powell took the 200 individual medley in 2:36.96 and the 100 freestyle in 1:02.92.

Valley 148, Canyon Springs 114 — At Multi-Generational, Nathalie Martinez and Hadley Mitchell each won two individual events to lead the Vikings by the Pioneers.

Martinez took the 100 backstroke in 1:10.95 and the 100 butterfly in 1:11.31. Mitchell captured the 200 individual medley in 2:48.25 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:29.17.

Las Vegas 137, Tech 127 — At Multi-Generational, April Martinez won the 50 freestyle in 27.44 and the 100 freestyle in 57.51 to lead the Wildcats by the Roadrunners.

Silverado 191, Rancho 97 — At Multi-Generational, Taylor Pace won two events as the Skyhawks topped the Rams.

Pace was first in the 50 freestyle in 29.11 and the 500 freestyle in 6:24.2.

Rancho’s Tonicia Thomas won the 100 backstroke in 59.68 and the 100 freestyle in 57.74, and teammate Patricia Matha won the 200 individual medley in 2:25.54 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.06.

Clark 174, Durango 90 — At Desert Breeze, Julia Bernardinelli and Samantha Freeman each won twice to lead the Chargers by the Trailblazers.

Bernardinelli won the 200 individual medley in 2:45.55 and the 100 freestyle in 1:06.37, and Freeman took the 200 freestyle in 2:29.4 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:22.58.

Durango’s Anna Ward won the 500 freestyle in 6:41.57 and the 100 backstroke in 1:16.65.

Palo Verde 185, Arbor View 119 — At Desert Breeze, Taylor McCoy won twice to help the Panthers down the Aggies.

McCoy was first in the 200 freestyle in 2:10.12 and the 100 backstroke in 1:06.94.

Arbor View’s Alexis Domingo won the 200 individual medley in 2:24.15 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.71.

Bishop Gorman 190, Centennial 115 — At Desert Breeze, Marley Maluafiti, Rachel Boodt and Amy Lubawy each won twice as the Gaels topped the Bulldogs.

Maluafiti took the 200 freestyle in 2:00.3 and the 100 butterfly in 1:01.62. Boodt won the 200 individual medley in 2:13.58 and the 100 backstroke in 59.72. Lubawy was first in the 50 freestyle in 25.27 and the 100 freestyle in 55.02.

Cimarron-Memorial 142, Desert Oasis 137 — At Desert Breeze, the Spartans swept the relay events to hold off the Diamondbacks.

Desert Oasis’ Karen Kurosawa won the 100 butterfly in 1:09.62 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.9.

Faith Lutheran 167, Spring Valley 115, Cheyenne 4 — At Municipal, the Crusaders won just four events, but used their depth to top the Grizzlies and the Desert Shields.

Spring Valley’s Ashlyn Lessenger won the 200 individual medley in 2:25.73 and the 100 backstroke in 1:08.03.

Mojave 130, Western 122 — At Municipal, Cosette Watson and Ashleigh Todd each won two events as the Rattlers edged the Warriors.

Watson took the 200 freestyle in 2:56.96 and the 500 freestyle in 7:40.78. Todd was victorious in the 50 freestyle in 32.74 and the 100 freestyle in 1:14.84.

Western’s Jessica Moreno won the 200 individual medley in 3:15.62 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:35.16.

Legacy 160, Bonanza 127 — At Municipal, Joelle Beachler won two events to help the Longhorns down the Bengals.

Beachler won the 100 butterfly in 1:10.72 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.88.

Bonanza’s Jordan Crosby won the 200 individual medley in 2:41.19 and the 100 backstroke in 1:12.69, and teammate Claudia Groenlykke won the 50 freestyle in 32.24 and the 500 freestyle in 6:49.21.

Sunrise Mountain 130, Chaparral 115 — At Municipal, Evelyn Lopez and Stephanie Lozano each won twice to help the Miners top the Cowboys.

Lopez took the 200 individual medley in 3:18.95 and the 100 backstroke in 1:36.44, and Lozano won the 200 freestyle in 2:53.04 and the 500 freestyle in 7:51.27.

Chaparral’s Santana Garcia won the 100 breaststroke in 1:33.05 and the 50 freestyle in 28.74.

Shadow Ridge 198, Sierra Vista 107 — At Multi-Generational, Caroline Brereton won two events as the Mustangs topped the Mountain Lions.

Brereton won the 100 freestyle in 1:01.4 and the 500 freestyle in 5:27.36.

Desert Pines 95, Moapa Valley 70 — At Multi-Generational, Becca Hernandez won two events to help the Jaguars overcome the Pirates.

Hernandez took the 50 freestyle in 30.11 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:29.2.

Moapa Valley’s Ashley Holmes won the 200 freestyle in 2:41.55 and the 100 backstroke in 1:26.59.

Virgin Valley 162, Del Sol 46 — At Multi-Generational, Melissa Guthrie, Kennedi Ludvigson and Abbie Barnard each won twice as the Bulldogs swam by the Dragons.

Guthrie took the 200 individual medley in 2:59.65 and the 100 backstroke in 1:22.59. Ludvigson placed first in the 100 butterfly in 1:20.08 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:27.58. Barnard claimed the 50 freestyle in 31.06 and the 100 freestyle in 1:11.6.

Del Sol’s Morgan Hartley won the 200 freestyle in 2:38.18 and the 500 freestyle in 7:22.62.

Boulder City 190, Foothill 79, Eldorado 45 — At Multi-Generational, Cori Molisee and Montana Lloyd each won two individual events as the Eagles overwhelmed the Falcons and the Sundevils.

Molisee won the 200 individual medley in 2:13.06 and the 100 freestyle in 56.45. Lloyd took the 500 freestyle in 5:17.42 and the 100 butterfly in 1:01.08.
