Outlook: Nathan Hughes and Mikkelsen were regional quarterfinalists in doubles last season.
“They’ll be playing singles, and I expect that they will do well,” Felix said. “We had a great season last year, and we are hoping to do as well this year.”
The Meadows’ Sophia Yang claimed her fourth consecutive state title in the Class 4A girls singles final Saturday. Two Adelson School players also defended their titles.
The Meadows boys tennis team won the Class 4A state title Friday in Reno. The Boulder City boys and girls lost to Northern teams in the 3A title matches.

Last season ended in disappointing fashion for The Meadows’ tennis program after the boys and girls teams lost in the state finals, but both will get another chance this week.
Bishop Gorman senior Mark Lapko became the fourth boy to win three straight singles state championships Friday. Palo Verde’s Remi Rice claimed the girls title.
The individual and doubles boys state tennis tournament began Monday and ends Friday. State tournaments also are scheduled for girls tennis and girls golf.
The Faith Lutheran boys and Palo Verde girls tennis teams capped off perfect seasons by winning the Class 5A state team titles Friday.
