Anuja Daulat knocked off her childhood friend and teammate from The Meadows, Abbigail Klein, in the state championship match 6-1, 6-3 at Tahoe Tennis Center in Truckee, Calif.
The Meadows’ Daniel Pereira — the team’s No. 3 singles player — upset Boulder City’s Breton Erlanger 6-1 in the second round Friday to break a tie, remove a potential tiebreaker and help the Mustangs capture their first state title with a 10-8 win over the Eagles.
Davis Waid and Brandon Sulzberg went 3-0 in doubles play Friday to lead Palo Verde’s boys tennis team to a 13-5 win over Reno in the 4A state final at the Caughlin Athletic Club.

Palo Verde swept all three rounds to beat Damonte Ranch 18-0 and advance to Friday’s Class 4A state championship match against Reno, an uncommon level of domination in a state tournament setting.

It took a tiebreaker, but the Coronado girls tennis team prevailed over Liberty on Wednesday at Darling Tennis Center to win the Class 4A Sunrise Region championship.
Last year’s defending state singles champion was unavailable for Palo Verde on Wednesday, but the Panthers rolled to the Class 4A Sunset Region championship, beating Desert Oasis 12-6 at Darling Tennis Center.
