Roundup: Liberty tops Basic on tiebreaker

Tim Gordon and Thomas Blomquist went 3-0 in doubles Tuesday to help Liberty’s boys tennis team edge visiting Basic 10-9 in the Desert Region tournament.

The Patriots won 4-2 on a tiebreaker.

Liberty (9-4) will play at Green Valley (8-4) in a quarterfinal at noon on Wednesday.

Gabriel Koukala was 3-0 in singles for Basic (5-10).

Silverado 12, Tech 6 — At Silverado, Owen Cox and Costandinos Pappas each finished 2-0 in singles to help lead the Skyhawks past the Roadrunners in the Desert Region tournament.

Silverado (5-10) plays at Coronado (11-1) at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the quarterfinals.

Nathaniel Puentespina was 2-1 in singles to pace Tech (2-11).

Spring Valley 15, Durango 3 — At Spring Valley, Gerardo Mendoza and Charles Caronia went 3-0 in doubles to lead the Grizzlies over the Trailblazers in the Desert Region tournament.

Zachary Billot, Joshua Ferguson and Miguel Rodriguez each went 2-1 in singles for Spring Valley (6-7), which plays at Clark (12-0) in a quarterfinal at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

The doubles teams of Spencer Clingio and Tanakrit Richie, and Shawn Morton and Zach Nagel each went 2-0 for the Grizzlies.

Arjay Angus was 3-0 in singles for Durango (4-13).

Mountain Region

Centennial 12, Eldorado 6 — At Centennial, Justin Madsen went 3-0 in singles to lead the Bulldogs over the Sundevils in the Mountain Region tournament.

Benjamin Robinson and Jaden Biggs went 2-0 for Centennial (10-4), which will play at Arbor View (11-3) in a quarterfinal at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Miguel Rodriguez and Jacob Harper went 2-0 in doubles for Eldorado (7-10).

Las Vegas 11, Rancho 7 — At Rancho, the doubles teams of Ashton Barney and Nathan Freimuth, and Leander Gates and Fernando Carmona both finished 3-0 as the Wildcats defeated the Rams in the Mountain Region tournament.

Las Vegas (9-6) plays Faith Lutheran (13-3) at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Darling Tennis Center in a quarterfinal.

Tanner Albright and Joshua McElroy each went 3-0 in singles to lead Rancho (12-6).

Shadow Ridge 12, Desert Pines 0 — At Shadow Ridge, the Mustangs defeated the Jaguars by forfeit in the Mountain Region tournament.

Shadow Ridge (6-8) will play at Palo Verde (13-0) in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Jaguars finished 2-15.

Legacy 12, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Legacy, the Longhorns won by forfeit in a second-round Mountain Region tournament match.

Legacy (6-10) will visit Bonanza (13-1) in a quarterfinal at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Cimarron finished 4-11.
