Basic girls top Rancho in playoff opener

Melissa Oppermann and Paige Blake each went 3-0 in singles Tuesday to lead Basic’s girls tennis team to an 11-7 road victory over Rancho in the Division I Sunrise Region quarterfinals.
The Wolves (7-5) play at Southeast League top seed Coronado (11-0) in the semifinals at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Charmaine Andres and Jennifer Deng teamed to go 3-0 in doubles for the Rams (8-4).
Coronado 16, Silverado 2 — At Coronado, Nicole Gardner was 3-0 in singles to help the Cougars blitz the Skyhawks (4-8).
Olivia Arriola and Tiffany Nguyen were 3-0 in doubles for Coronado.
Liberty 10, Las Vegas 9 — At Liberty, the Patriots won four of the six tiebreaker games to edge the Wildcats.
Yvonne Asoy and Katerina Singh went 3-0 in doubles to lead Liberty (8-3), which will visit Green Valley (11-0) at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Selena Torres was 3-0 in singles for Las Vegas (7-4).
Green Valley 13, Foothill 5 — At Green Valley, Josie Legarza went 3-0 in singles as the Gators (11-0) topped the Falcons (4-7).
Sydney Crosby and Paola Davila went 2-0 in doubles for Green Valley.
SUNSET REGION
Centennial 14, Shadow Ridge 4 — At Shadow Ridge, McKay Novak and Danielle Gordon were 3-0 in doubles as the Bulldogs (7-5) downed the Mustangs (7-4).
Meagan Boggess went 2-0 in singles for the Bulldogs, who will visit Bishop Gorman (11-0) at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Bishop Gorman 18, Durango 0 — At Gorman, Summer Minden and Monika Ryan each went 2-0 in singles as the Gaels blanked the Trailblazers (3-10).
Bonanza 10, Sierra Vista 8 — At Bonanza, Kim Pace and Kayla Sylvester went 3-0 in doubles, helping the Bengals (10-3) edged the Lions.
Alexis Vincent went 3-0 in singles for Sierra Vista (7-4).
Palo Verde 16, Desert Oasis 2 — At Palo Verde, the Panthers (12-0) rolled past the Diamondbacks (5-8).
Palo Verde will host Bonanza at 3 p.m. Thursday.
DIVISION I-A SOUTHERN REGION
Clark 12, Desert Pines 6 — At Desert Pines, Sharon Fang was 3-0 in singles as the Chargers (10-5) knocked off the Jaguars (11-6).
Desert Pines’ Mekham Singkhamta and Ashley Palacios went 3-0 to complete an undefeated season in doubles.
The Meadows 18, Tech 0 — At The Meadows, Bhavana Janga was 3-0 in singles as the Mustangs (13-1) swept the Roadrunners (4-9).
Taler Brazell won all three of her doubles matches, pairing with different teammates each time for The Meadows, which will host Clark at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Faith Lutheran 17, Moapa Valley 1 — At Darling Tennis Center, Vanessa Lee went 3-0 in singles as the Crusaders (15-2) routed the Pirates (9-5).
The doubles teams of Katelyn Morley and Ellie Waite, and Megan Schumacher and Maya Rawls each went 1-0 for Faith Lutheran, which will visit Boulder City at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Boulder City 12, Adelson School 0 — At Boulder City, the Eagles (12-1) won by forfeit as the Lions (5-7) could not field the necessary six players.
