GIRLS TENNIS: Lopez, Castro pace Skyahwks

Megan Lopez and Criszelle Castro each went 3-0 in singles Wednesday to lead Silverado’s girls tennis team to a 12-6 home win over Las Vegas.

Alexis Koogler and Samantha Arteaga were 2-0 in doubles for the Skyhawks.

Skye Brower and Jocelyn Leyva went 2-1 in doubles for the Wildcats.

Liberty 12, Eldorado 6 — At Liberty, Jessica Knoblock was 3-0 in singles to help the Patriots beat the Sundevils.

Cheyenne Delicate and Dora Carrillo went 3-0 in doubles for Eldorado.

Foothill 13, Del Sol 5 — At Foothill, Lilly Nettles was 3-0 in singles as the Falcons downed the Dragons.

The doubles teams of Madison Topham and Alyssa Miele, and Hannah Stevens and Rachael Wojtkowiak both went 2-0 for Foothill.

Arbor View 15, Spring Valley 3 — At Arbor View, Janiria Robinson and Lauren Gilmore teamed to go 2-0 in doubles as the Aggies routed the Grizzlies.

Elen Safarian, Devin Diesko, and Catherine Arizmendez each went 2-0 in singles for Arbor View.

Palo Verde 11, Durango 0 — At Durango, Annie Walker and Anahit Urfalyan each went 2-0 in singles as the Panthers downed the Trailblazers in a match that was halted in the second round by rain.

Kristen Newell and Abby Till were 2-0 in doubles for Palo Verde.

Coronado 17, Basic 1 — At Basic, Paris Reese was 3-0 in singles as the Cougars blitzed the Wolves.

Green Valley 13, Valley 1 — At Valley, the Gators topped the Vikings in a match that was shortened by rain.

Weather issues

Canyon Springs led host Rancho, 8-6 when their match was suspended because of rain. The teams tentatively have agreed to resume the match on Sept. 30.

Clark and host Centennial were in the second round of their match when rain forced the stoppage of play. The match probably will not be resumed.

Faith Lutheran led host Bonanza, 8-2 when their match was suspended by rain. The teams have not determined when they will resume the match.

Sierra Vista led visiting Shadow Ridge, 7-5 when their match was suspended because of rain. A completion date has not been determined.

The Meadows boys tennis team won the Class 4A state title Friday in Reno. The Boulder City boys and girls lost to Northern teams in the 3A title matches.
