As Olivia Mikkelson was wrapping up her Class 3A Southern Region girls singles title on one court, twin brother Connor was gutting his way to a three-set win in the boys singles final on another.
Boch-Collins used a cerebral effort rather than a hard approach to defeat Bishop Gorman senior Angelique Friedrich on Friedrich’s home court, 6-2, 6-1 in the girls singles final.
Using his a powerful first serve and an overwhelming forehand, Andre dominated Faith Lutheran’s Kenny Dobrev, 6-0, 6-0 in the Mountain Region boys singles final.

The defending state champion Cougars (16-0) rolled to a 13-5 victory over the previously unbeaten Panthers (15-1) at Bishop Gorman to extend their winning streak to 31 and clinch a bye in the Class 4A state tournament.
Coronado and The Meadows’ girls tennis teams clinched region titles on Friday, but the Mountain Region championship match was suspended due to darkness.
Olivia Balelo and Madison Winston went 3-0 in doubles play to lead Bishop Gorman to a 10-9 home win over Clark in the Desert Region girls tennis semifinals on Thursday.
