Roundup: Faith Lutheran finishes 4th in California tournament

Arianna Van Houweling and Jade Mayweather each posted a straight-sets win in singles Saturday to help Faith Lutheran’s girls tennis team defeat Oak Ridge (California) in the Division I-B bracket final of the California Tennis Classic in Clovis, California.

Kenadee Semenik and Hannah Lundgaard were straight-sets winners in doubles for Faith Lutheran, which won the tiebreaker on total games won during the match. The Crusaders won 55 games to the Trojans’ 46.

Faith Lutheran finished fourth overall in the 96-team field.

Faith Lutheran 5, Del Oro (Calif.) 1 — At Clovis, California, Courtney Martin’s three-set win capped off a singles sweep as the Crusaders downed the Golden Eagles in the California Tennis Classic.

Eleni Ciulla and Elyse Dulaine combined for a doubles win for Faith Lutheran.

Basic 10, Spring Valley 8 — At Basic, Macayla Schopp and Nicole Saavedra went 2-0 in doubles for the Wolves in their win over the Grizzlies.

Olivia Lampkin and Jazelle Lampkin also went 2-0 in doubles for Basic.

Spring Valley’s Nicole Attallah was 3-0 in singles.

Clark 12, Silverado 6 — At Clark, Esther Yi went 2-0 in singles to help the Chargers beat the Skyhawks.

Ellen Lee and Emily Follmer went 2-0 in doubles for the Chargers.

Vanessa Booth was 2-0 in singles for the Skyhawks, and Kathryn Carder and Morgan Seiler went 2-0 in doubles.

Desert Oasis 17, Tech 1 — At Desert Oasis, Emily Dang and Adriana Benjamin were 3-0 in doubles to help the Diamondbacks rout the Roadrunners.

Natalie White and Hana Alemayehu went 2-0 in doubles for Desert Oasis.

Coronado 17, Durango 1 — At Coronado, Madison Garman and Kaylin Heiss each went 2-0 in singles as the Cougars routed the Trailblazers.
