Boys roundup: Cam Hunterton wins four events to lead Gorman to tri-meet victory

Cam Hunterton won four individual events Tuesday to help Bishop Gorman’s boys track team capture a triangular meet at Faith Lutheran.

Hunterton finished first in the 400-meter dash in 52.32 seconds. He also won the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 8 inches, the long jump with a distance of 20-11 and the triple jump with a mark of 42-1½.

Kyu Kelly won the 100 (11.0) and 200 (22.23) for the Gaels, and teammate Jake Phillips was first in the 110 hurdles in 15.9 and second in the 300 hurdles.

Faith Lutheran’s Sever Stewart won the 300 hurdles in 40.51 and was third in the 110 hurdles.

Gorman finished with 94 points. Faith Lutheran was second with 47, followed by Palo Verde with 45.

Canyon Springs defeats Las Vegas

At Canyon Springs, Isaiah Hayden won three individual events to lead the Pioneers to a 67-46 win over Las Vegas.

Hayden finished first in the 100 (10.6), 200 (23.3) and long jump (19-7). He also ran a leg on Canyon Springs’ winning 400 relay team.

Torian Hammond won both hurdle events, claiming the 110 high hurdles in 16.3 and the 300 low hurdles in 41.2, and ran on winning 400 and 800 relay teams for the Pioneers.

Las Vegas’ Flomar Hunt won the triple jump (39-9½) and was second in the long jump.

Sierra Vista downs Spring Valley

At Spring Valley, Devon Faison swept the throwing events and helped Sierra Vista to a 98-40 win over the Grizzlies.

Faison threw 134-10 to win the discus and took the shot put with an effort of 49-1½.

Sierra Vista’s Seth Carey was first in the 100 in 11.63 and second in the 200, and teammate Edgar Molina was first in the 200 in 23.08 and second in the 100. Both ran on the Mountain Lions’ winning 400 relay team.

Devin Brice won the high jump (5-10) and was second in the long jump for Sierra Vista.

Spring Valley’s Jacob Potere won the 3,200 in 10:46.07 and was second in the 800.

Mojave wins tri-meet

At Sunrise Mountain, Noah Thompson and James Fincher each won two individual events to lead Mojave to an easy victory in a triangular meet.

Thompson won the 200 (22.45) and 400 (51.97), and Fincher finished first in the 1,600 (4:49.52) and the 3,200 (10:36.82). Thompson also ran on the winning 800 relay team and Fincher on the winning 1,600 relay team.

Mojave’s Isaiah Harper won the 110 hurdles in 18.7 and was second in the high jump.

The Rattlers’ John Harper cleared 6-10 to win the high jump.

Mojave finished with 98 points. Western was second with 34, and Sunrise Mountain had 26.
