BOYS TRACK: Jackson wins three events as Vikings grab three-team meet

Valley’s Taveon Jackson won three events Tuesday to lead the Vikings to victory in a three-team home boys track meet.

Jackson won the 200-meter dash in 23.4 seconds and took first in the 300 hurdles in 43.3. He also won the long jump with a mark of 21 feet, 2 inches.

Brendan Orphan won the triple jump (39-7) and high jump (6-0¼) and was second in the 110 hurdles for the Vikings, who finished with 81 points.

Durango was second with 60, and Bonanza had 34.

Wildcats top Cimarron

At Las Vegas, Kode Mwirigi finished second in three individual events to help the Wildcats to an 82-43 win over Cimarron-Memorial.

Mwirigi was second in the 400, the 110 hurdles and the long jump.

Cimarron’s Keenan Bowman was second in the 100 and 200.

Aggies defeat Mustangs

At Shadow Ridge, Aaron Price and Cody Del Toro each won two individual events to help Arbor View to an 81-65 win over the Mustangs.

Price took the 110 hurdles in 15.8 and cleared 6-2 to win the high jump. Del Toro swept the throws, with distances of 124-4 in the discus and 42-3½ in the shot put.

Shadow Ridge’s De-Zhon Rogers won the 100 in 11.1 and the long jump with an effort of 19-11.

Smith, Golden Eagles win

At The Meadows, Laron Smith won four events to lead Spring Mountain to victory in an eight-team meet.

Smith was first in the 400 (53.7), 110 hurdles (15.39), triple jump (38-7¾) and shot put (40-5½)

Kenneth Brown won the 300 hurdles (43.4) and was second in the 110 hurdles for the Golden Eagles, who finished with 146½ points.

The Meadows (90½) was second, followed by Lincoln County (87), Beatty (86), Quest Academy (68½), Laughlin (38½), Indian Springs (24) and Pahranagat Valley (18).

Quest’s Devante Loggins won the 100 (10.8) and 200 (22.8).
