BOYS TRACK: Jimenez-Vazquez takes distance double to lead Sunrise Mountain

Musio Jimenez-Vazquez won two distance events Tuesday to lead Sunrise Mountain’s boys track team to victory in a three-team meet at Western.
Jimenez-Vazquez won the 1,600-meter run in 4 minutes, 48.9 seconds and the 3,200 in 11:03.9 for the Miners, who won with 63 points.
Western was second with 49½ points, followed by Chaparral with 37½ points.
Western’s Uriah Dante Elam won the 100 (11.2) and the 200 (22.8).
Wildcats top host Canyon Springs
At Canyon Springs, Miguel Ramirez won two individual events to lead the Wildcats by the Pioneers.
Ramirez won the 1,600 (4:50.0) and the 3,200 (10:35.0) for Las Vegas, which had 85 points. Canyon Springs had 50 points.
Canyon Springs’ Isaiah Johnson won the 110 hurdles (15.7), and triple jump (43-6) and was second in the long jump.
Skyhawks roll past Liberty
At Silverado, ZaKee Washington won two events, and the Skyhawks swept the relays en route to a win over the Patriots.
Washington took the 200 (22.3) and 400 (49.6) for Silverado, which finished with 97 points. Liberty had 49 points.
Nick Tapuala won the shot put (53-10½) and discus (162-4) for Liberty.
