BOYS TRACK: Prewitt helps Valley to win over Silverado

Tyrone Prewitt won the 200-meter dash and triple jump and was third in the 100 to lead Valley’s boys track team to a 77-61 home victory over Silverado on Tuesday.

Prewitt had a time of 22.9 seconds in the 200, and a mark of 41 feet, 9 inches in the triple jump.

Dawit Tesfa added wins in the 800 (2:05.4) and 1,600 (4:47.0) for the Vikings.

Silverado’s Cody Hudson won the 110 hurdles (16.1) and 300 hurdles (40.2).

Wolves top Del Sol

At Del Sol, Elijah Sharif won three events to help Basic to an 89-57 win over the Dragons.

Sharif took the 100 in 10.7, the 200 in 22.0 and the long jump with an effort of 21-2.

Panthers rout Spring Valley

At Spring Valley, Calvin Beaulieu, Jarod Swafford, Hykeem Massey and Carlos Garcia-Murillo each won two individual events to help Palo Verde to a 124-30 win over the Grizzlies.

Beaulieu won the 100 in 11.0 and the 200 in 22.5. Massey swept the hurdles, winning the 110 in 17.3 and the 300 in 45.8.

Garcia-Murillo won the high jump (5-8) and the long jump (unavailable), and Swafford won the discus (136-9) and shot put (43-2).

Pioneers edge Wildcats

At Las Vegas, Jordan Austin, Demarcus Walker and Marques Williams each won two individual events to lead Canyon Springs to a 74-65 win over the Wildcats.

Austin traveled 21-10 to win the long jump and 45-10 to take the triple jump. Walker won the 110 hurdles in 14.9 and the 300 hurdles in 42.4. Williams was first in the 100 in 10.5 and the 200 in 21.6.

Cougars win three-team meet

At Eldorado, Christian Alvarez won two individual events to help Coronado capture a three-team meet.

Alvarez took the 100 in 11.07 and the 200 in 22.6.

The Cougars had 141 points. Eldorado was second with 30, followed by The Meadows with 11.

Gators defeat Rams

At Rancho, Alexander Hicks and Brady Williams each finished first in two events to lead Green Valley to a 74½-54½ victory over the Rams. Spring Mountain also participated but was not counted in the scoring.

Hicks won the triple jump with a mark of 42-3½ and won the high jump by clearing 5-10. He was second in the 200 behind Rancho’s Robert Howard (22.3).

Williams was first in the shot put (51-8) and the discus (149-1).

Howard also won the long jump (21-0). Dylan Jensen was first in the 1,600 (5:10) and the 3,200 (11:27) for the Rams.
