BOYS TRACK: Rubalcaba, Crusaders capture five-team meet

Mark Rubalcaba won two individual events Wednesday to help host Faith Lutheran’s boys track team capture a five-team meet.

Rubalcaba won the 100-meter dash in 10.22 seconds and the 200 in 21.58 for the Crusaders, who finished with 125½ points. Boulder City was second with 116, followed by Pahrump Valley (72), Virgin Valley (56½) and Pahranagat Valley (2).

Boulder City’s Brooks Roe swept the hurdle events winning the 110 in 15.29 and the 300 in 41.83.

Watkins helps Liberty top Valley

At Liberty, John Watkins won three field events to help the Patriots to a 111-76 win over Valley.

Watkins cleared 6 feet, 4 inches to win the high jump and also took the triple jump (43-8¼) and the long jump (19-11).

Valley’s Abel Tesfa won the 800 (2:13), 1,600 (4:49.9) and 3,200 (10:57.2). The Vikings’ Niko Christian won the 110 hurdles (15.9) and the 300 hurdles (42.5), and teammate Amari Calvillo-Tatum won the 200 (23.0) and 400 (52.0).

Green Valley edges Basic

At Basic, Brady Williams won two field events in the Gators’ 78-68 victory over the Wolves.

Williams won the shot put with a mark of 52-11 and took the discus (168-3).

Frank Harris won three events for Basic, sweeping the 100 (11.05) and the 200 (22.66) to go along with a first-place finish in the high jump (5-8).

Las Vegas tops Pioneers

At Canyon Springs, Kode Mwirigi, Tre James, Mario Sicairos and Marcus Hastings each won two individual events to power Las Vegas to a 128-54 win over the Pioneers.

Mwirigi was first in the 110 hurdles (16.0) and 800 (2:08.8), James won the 100 (10.4) and 200 (21.5), Sicairos took the shot put (39-6½) and discus (132-6), and Hastings won the high jump (5-4) and long jump (20-8½).
