BOYS TRACK: Sueing wins three events, Pioneers edge Valley

Jerryon Sueing won three events Wednesday to lead Canyon Springs to a 74-63 win over host Valley.

Sueing posted a mark of 44 feet, 6 inches to win the triple jump, and also placed first in the high jump (6-0) and long jump (19-9).

Demarcus Walker won the 100-meter dash (10.7 seconds) and 200 (21.8) for the Pioneers, and teammate Bradley Alexander won the 110 hurdles (16.2) and 300 hurdles (43.4).

Valley’s Dawit Tesfa was first in the 800 (2:13.1), 1,600 (4:58) and 3,200 (10:34.15).

Gators top Skyhawks

At Green Valley, Alexander Hicks and Ian Mack each won two individual events to lead the Gators to a 67-32 win over Silverado.

Hicks was first in the high jump (5-10) and triple jump (43-5). Mack won the 100 (11.33) and 400 (53.14) and also ran on the winning 400 and 1,600 relays.

Tyrell Crosby and Brady Williams powered Green Valley in the throws. Crosby won the discus (147-9) and was second in the shot put.

Williams won the shot put (51-10) and was second in the discus.

Del Sol blows by Eldorado

At Eldorado, Brian Greer won two events to help the Dragons to a 101-50 win over the Sundevils.

Greer won the high jump (5-8) and triple jump (19-¾) for Del Sol. Toure Cooke had success in the hurdles for the Dragons, winning the 110 in 15.8 and coming in second for the 300 (48.5).

Eldorado’s Eddie Esquivel won the 1600 in 4:56.4.

Cougars top Falcons

At Coronado, Christian Alvarez won the 100 (11.32) and 200 (23.16) to lead the Cougas to a 92½-44½ win over Foothill.

Dylan Weasa won the shot put (48-0) and discus (134-9) for the Falcons.

Garcia helps Bengals to win

At Bonanza, DeAndre Garcia swept the hurdle events, winning the 110 hurdles in 15.6 and the 300 hurdles in 41.4 to help the Bengals to victory in a four-team meet.

Bonanza had 128 points. Desert Oasis was second with 105. Laughlin took third with 37, and Indian Springs did not score.

Liberty girls win 5A state track title; tie for boys crown

The Liberty girls track team won the Class 5A state title Saturday, snapping Centennial’s run of 10 straight crowns. Liberty and Faith Lutheran are boys co-champions.
