BUSHMAN INVITATIONAL: Reiss sets meet record in pole vault, Crusaders sweep titles

Faith Lutheran’s Michelle Reiss set a meet record in the pole vault and won the long jump Friday to lead the Crusaders to the team title at the Grant Bushman Invitational in Overton.

Reiss cleared 9 feet, 6 inches to set a record in the pole vault, and won the long jump with a mark of 15-2½.

Xori Green won the 200-meter dash in 26.42 seconds and ran on the winning 400 and 1,600 relay teams for Faith Lutheran, which had 176 points.

White Pine was second with 96, and Virgin Valley finished third with 82½.

Maggie Shuirman won the 3,200 for the Crusaders in 12:04.38 and also finished second in the 800 and 1,600.

Faith Lutheran’s Kyrie Lorfing won the 800 in 2:30.48 and ran on the winning 1,600 relay team. Kendall Larson won the 1,600 (5:29.7) and was third in the 800, and Bryanna Neagle won the high jump (5-0) for the Crusaders.

Mojave’s Raven Williams won the 400 (59.25), finished second in the 200 and ran on the winning 800 relay team, and teammate Charlea Armstrong won the 100 (13.02) and tied for third in the high jump.

Calvary Chapel’s Shelbi Byrnes won the 100 hurdles (16.38) and was second in the 300 hurdles, and Virgin Valley’s Abbie Barnum won the 300 hurdles (47.24) and was second in the 100 hurdles.

Faith Lutheran’s boys team won just one event, but the Crusaders used their depth to win team title with 120 points.

Bryce Neagle won the triple jump with a mark of 44-5 to lead Faith Lutheran. Moapa Valley was second with 102, and Desert Pines was third with 85.

Neagle also finished second in the high jump.

Moapa Valley’s R.J. Hubert won the 110 in 15.08, and placed first in the high jump by clearing 6-4. He also was second in the 300 hurdles, and third in the long jump.

Pahrump Valley’s Bryce Odegard won the 1,600 (4:34.72) and 3,200 (10:07.02) and was second in the 800.

Boulder City’s Samuel Gomez won the shot put (50-9) and discus (168-10), and Desert Pines’ Artise McCoy was first in the 100 (11.09) and 200 (22.05).

Three meet records fell on Friday. Desert Pines’ Amari Calvillo-Tatum set a record of 48.64 in the 400. He also finished second in the 200.

Virgin Valley’s Kai Mitchell set a meet record of 40.03 in the 300 hurdles and also placed second in the 110 hurdles.

Calvary Chapel’s Cameron Varela set a meet record in the 800 with a time of 1:59.24.
