Nutter helps Centennial boys track win The Meadows Invitational

Anyah Nutter had three first-place finishes and one second-place showing Saturday to help Centennial’s boys track team win The Meadows Invitational.

The Bulldogs, who also got two individual wins from George Espino, finished with 201 points to top a 16-team field. Green Valley was second with 155. Desert Oasis placed third with 71.

Nutter won the 300-meter hurdles in 41.72 seconds and the high jump by clearing 6 feet, 4 inches. He also was a part of the Bulldogs’ 800 relay team that won in 1:28.97. Nutter finished second to Pahrump Valley’s Devon Montgomery in the 110 hurdles.

Espino won the 1,600 in 4:22.83 and the 3,200 in 9:40.39.

Green Valley’s Alex Hicks also had a hand in three event wins and took second in another event.

Hicks won the long jump with an effort of 21-1¼ and covered 42-8 to win the triple jump. He was a part of the Gators’ 1,600 relay team that won in 3:25.14. Hicks also was second to Nutter in the high jump.

The Gators’ Ian Mack took the 100 in 10.9 and the 200 in 22.05.

In the girls meet, Sydney Badger and Tiana Bonds both finished first in four events to help Centennial top an 18-team field.

The Bulldogs had 194 points. Green Valley took second with 121 points. Desert Oasis was third with 73.

Badger won the 800 in 2:19.81 and the 1,600 in 5:00.39. She was a part of two winning relay teams, having a hand in a 3,200 relay team victory (10:08.28) and joining Bonds on the victorious 1,600 relay team (4:01.13).

Bonds also swept the hurdles, winning the 100 hurdles in 14.01 and the 300 hurdles in 43.57, and took the long jump with an effort of 18-1.

Del Sol’s Jazmyne Pascual swept the throwing events, finishing first in both the discus (94-2) and shot put (36-6¼).
