ROUNDUP: Centennial girls cruise to tri-meet win

LaTangie Richard and Ashley Mosley won two events each Wednesday to lead the Centennial girls track and field team to a tri-meet victory at Cimarron-Memorial.
Centennial scored 91 points, topping Cheyenne (56) and Cimarron (29).
Richard won the 100-meter dash (11.94 seconds) and long jump (16 feet, 10 inches), and Mosley took the 200 (24.86) and 400 (56.72).
Cheyenne’s Jenae Brown won the shot put (35-9¾) and discus (114-6).

McFarland leads Aggies to victory
At Legacy, Candice McFarland won two events to lift Arbor View to 155 points and a win over Legacy (74) and Indian Springs (7).

McFarland took the 100 hurdles (14.6) and 300 hurdles (49.6).
Legacy’s Avione Allgood won the shot put (43-7) and discus (130-6).

Larocco wins three events to power Panthers
At Palo Verde, Jordan Larocco won the high jump (4-8), long jump (15-4) and triple jump (29-4) to lead the Panthers to victory in a tri-meet with 92 points.

Shadow Ridge (60) was second, followed by Mojave (23).
Tori Lounsberry won the shot put (32-6) and discus (86-2) for the Panthers.
Shadow Ridge’s Rebecca Brown won the 200 (26.4) and 400 (59.6).

Valley beats Canyon Springs, The Meadows
At Valley, the host Vikings won despite Canyon Springs’ four double winners.

Valley scored 90 points, ahead of Canyon Springs (73) and The Meadows (18).
Canyon Springs’ Shavee Lighten won the 100 (12.5) and triple jump (32-10), Savonni Simms took the 200 (27.0) and 400 (1:01.5), Marica King captured the 100 hurdles (16.2) and 300 hurdles (47.9), and Destanae Howerton-Davis claimed the shot put (40-4½) and discus (137-11).
 
Wolves down Silverado
At Basic, three athletes won two events each to lift the host Wolves to an 82-60 victory over Silverado.
 
Basic’s Kamisa Richardson won the 100 (12.94) and 200 (26.91), Alicia Richardson the long jump (14-3¾) and triple jump (30-9), and Michaela Thomas the shot put (36-0) and discus (102-8).
BOYS
Bulldogs win nine events, take tri-meet
At Cimarron, won nine events on its way to 78½ points and a tri-meet win over Cheyenne (58) and Cimarron (40½).
Cheyenne’s Chris Carroll took the 200 (21.97) and 400 (49.05).

Hall lifts Aggies to win
At Legacy, Chaz Hall won two events to lead Arbor View to 149 points and a win over Legacy (78) and Indian Springs (8).

 
Hall took the long jump (20-1) and high jump (5-8).
Legacy’s Jevon Porter took the 100 (11.01) and 200 (23.0).

Palo Verde rolls past Shadow Ridge and Mojave

At Palo Verde, Zach Smith and Chaz Thomas each won two events to lead the Panthers to victory with 101 points.
Shadow Ridge (45) was second and Mojave (39) third.
Smith won the 800 (2:06.9) and 1,600 (4:46.2), and Thomas was first in the shot put (46-1) and discus (159-11).
Mojave’s Kevin James won the 110 hurdles (15.9) and 300 hurdles (45.7).

Belay leads Vikings to win
At Valley, Solomon Belay won the 1,600 (4:58.6) and 3,200 (10:42.5) to lead the host Vikings to a tri-meet win.

Valley scored 88½ points, topping Canyon Springs (81½) and The Meadows (1).
Canyon Springs’ James Sayles won the high jump (5-10) and long jump (20-5½).
 
Wadsworth leads Skyhawks to win
At Basic, Michael Wadsworth won two events to lead Silverado to an 85-60 win.
 
Wadsworth took the 110 hurdles (15.74) and 300 hurdles (41.5).
 
Basic’s James Holmes won the high jump (6-4) and triple jump (40-5½), and Kelly Armistead took the 100 (11.0) and 200 (22.9).

Liberty girls win 5A state track title; tie for boys crown

The Liberty girls track team won the Class 5A state title Saturday, snapping Centennial’s run of 10 straight crowns. Liberty and Faith Lutheran are boys co-champions.
