ROUNDUP: Charles, Dumas power Canyon Springs boys to victory in three-team meet

Isaiah Charles and Michael Dumas each won two events on Thursday to lead Canyon Springs’ boys track team to victory over visiting Las Vegas and Calvary Chapel.

Charles won the 100-meter dash in 10.8 seconds and took the 200 in 21.8 for the Pioneers, who finished with 76 points. Las Vegas (70) was second and Calvary Chapel (27) third.

Dumas won the shot put (43 feet, 2½ inches) and discus (115-10).

Las Vegas’ Jacob Tonda won the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 6.7 seconds, and took the 3,200 in 11:21.3.

Royce Gonzaque won the 110 hurdles (18.2) and 300 hurdles (41.7) for the Wildcats.

Wisner, Rich lead Cougars
At Liberty, Blake Wisner and Parker Rich each won a pair of events to lead Coronado to victory in a three-team meet.

Wisner won the 110 (17.5) and 300 hurdles (42.4) for the Cougars, who scored 80 points to top Liberty (51) and Basic (49).

Rich cleared 5-10 to win the high jump, and took the long jump with a mark of 19-5.

Basic’s Chris Bibbs was first in the 100 (11.3) and 200 (23.3).

Liberty’s Jordan Kapeli took the shot put (53-8) and discus (137-8).

Martinez leads Diamondbacks to victory
At Western, Frankie Martinez won the 800 in 2:10.43 and the 1,600 in 5:16.4 to lead Desert Oasis to a 72-37 victory over the Warriors.

Western’s Gustavo Vargas took the 200 in 23.76 and the 400 in 52.43.

Depth leads Aggies by Panthers
At Palo Verde, Arbor View won six events on its way to a 73-69 victory over the Panthers.

Palo Verde’s Kana’i Sportsman won the long jump at 18-10 and the triple jump at 37-0, and Michael Glanz took the shot put at 46-10 and the discus at 150-4.

Hernandez helps Cowboys win three-team meet
At Mesquite, William Hernandez won the shot put at 52-3 and the discus at 144-5 to lead Chaparral to 74 points and a victory over Virgin Valley (59) and Sunrise Mountain (52).
