Roundup: Clark beats Sierra Vista, Calvary Chapel

Jorge Castro and Isaiah Bigby each won two events to lead Clark’s boys team to victory in a three-team meet at Sierra Vista.

Castro won the 1,600 (5:02.39) and 3,200 (11:18.01), and Bigby won the 110 hurdles (16.65) and 300 hurdles (45.24) for the Chargers, who had 81 points. Sierra Vista was second with 45, and Calvary Chapel scored five.

Sierra Vista’s Louis Pinckney won the 100 (11.39) and 200 (23.18).

Coronado claims home win

At Coronado, Justin Watterson won the 200 (22.98) and 400 (51.81) to lead the Cougars to victory in a three-team meet.

Coronado had 72½ points, to edge Liberty (67½). Green Valley was third at 43.

Liberty’s Corey Moore swept the throws, winning the shot put with a mark of 51-6, and taking the discus with a throw of 177-1.

Ryan Gilbert was first in the 1,600 (4:55.58) and 3,200 (10:48.8) for the Patriots. Truell Clark won the 110 hurdles (16.92) and tied for first in the high jump (5-10) for Liberty.

Palo Verde tops Bonanza

At Bonanza, Anthony Valenzuela won the high jump (5-0) tied for first in the 110 hurdles (17.3) and was second in the 300 hurdles to lead Palo Verde to a 91½-60½ win over the Bengals.

Bonanza’s Brendan Rehmel-Quinones won the shot put (43-2.5) and discus (105-3), and teammate Nicholas Diaz tied Valenzuela in the 110 hurdles (17.3) and won the 300 hurdles (46.0).
