ROUNDUP: Faith Lutheran girls race to invitational victory

Joi Goynes, Vanessa Sigman and Jessica Nelson were event winners Saturday as Faith Lutheran’s girls track team breezed to victory in the Richard Lewis Invitational in Overton.
Goynes won the 200 in 27.08 seconds, Sigman took the 1,600 in 5:49.62, and Nelson cleared 8 feet 6 inches to win the pole vault.
The Crusaders had 143 points and Basic was second with 100 in the 17-team field.

Four athletes won two individual events each.
Rancho's Aisha Momodu captured the 100 (12.5) and 400 (1:00.46). Las Vegas’ Breanna Melton swept the hurdles, winning the 100 in 16.70 and the 300 in 49.71. Legacy’s Avione Allgood took both throwing events, the shot put (43-1) and discus (122-10). Ariana Hardy of Laughlin won the high jump (5-4) and long jump (16-6).
In the boys meet, Tyree Anderson was Las Vegas’ only individual winner, but the Wildcats’ depth ruled the 16-team field.
Anderson’s effort of 5-10 in the high jump, plus wins by the Wildcats’ 800 and 1,600 relay teams helped Las Vegas score 92 points. Moapa Valley was second with 80½, and Basic had 80.
Moapa Valley’s Josh Thompson won the 1,600 (4:49.39) and 3,200 (10:40.47). Pahranagat Valley’s Taylor Poulsen won the long jump (19-11½) and triple jump (42-2½).
