ROUNDUP: Glanz sweeps throws, leads Palo Verde boys to win

Michael Glanz won both throwing events Tuesday to lead Palo Verde’s boys track and field team to victory in a three-team meet at Cimarron-Memorial.

Glanz won the shot put with a heave of 47 feet, 9 inches, and the discus at 137-7.

Palo Verde won with 74½ points, defeating Cimarron-Memorial (56½) and Cheyenne (46).

Cimarron’s Marques Price won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.7 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 40.4.

Ferraro, Nelson lead Gators to victory
At Del Sol, Sean Ferraro and Matt Nelson won two events each to lead Green Valley (94 points) past Foothill (50) and Del Sol (42).

Ferraro won the 100 in 11.42 and the 200 in 22.91, and Nelson took the 110 hurdles in 16.69 and the 300 hurdles in 41.3.

Depth leads Pahrump Valley to victory
At Pahrump, the Trojans won 12 events on their way to 161 points and an easy victory over Sierra Vista (77), Beatty (25) and Round Mountain (3).

Beatty’s Dakota Dawson won the 800 in 2:15, the 1,600 in 5:01 and the triple jump at 41-5.

GIRLS

Stefanie Thelaner, Regan Van Engen and Megan Hamrick won two events apiece to lead Pahrump Valley’s girls track and field team to victory in a four-team home meet.

Pahrump Valley won with 185 points, cruising past Sierra Vista (45½), Beatty (34½) and Round Mountain (4).

Thelaner won the 1,600 in 6:06 and the 3,200 in 13:12.

Van Engen took the long jump at 16-11 and triple jump at 34-7¾.

Hamrick won the shot put at 32-6½ and discus at 93-5.

Suan leads Panthers to victory

At Cimarron-Memorial, Marissa Suan won two events to lead Palo Verde (73 points) past Cheyenne (57) and Cimarron-Memorial (42).

Suan won the 800 in 2:27.4 and the 1,600 in 5:32.1.

Cheyenne’s Jasper Gray took the 200 in 26.3, the high jump at 4-10 and the long jump at 16-9.

Kyra Day won the shot put at 27-9 and the discus at 97-8 for the Desert Shields.

Gators use depth to win meet
At Del Sol, Green Valley won 10 events on its way to 100 points and a victory over Foothill (69) and Del Sol (17).
