ROUNDUP: Hernandez dominates throws, leads Cheyenne boys by Eagles

Chaparral’s William Hernandez dominated the throwing events Wednesday to lead the Cowboys to a 105.33-40.67 win over visiting Boulder City.

Hernandez won the shot put with a throw of 53 feet, 6 inches, and posted a mark of 166-1 in the discus.

Chaparral’s Ricardo Salas won the 1,600-meter run (5 minutes, 14.4 seconds) and 3,200 (11:22.4), and James Bryant took the high jump (6-4) and triple jump (41-6) for the Cowboys.

Boulder City’s Jacorey Dixon was first in the 110 hurdles (16.3) and 300 hurdles (40.8).

Trio helps Rattlers to three-team win
At Mojave, Tyreek Carter, Deonte Wright and Marcus Hines each won two events to help the Rattlers to a win in a three-team meet.

Mojave had 97 points. Cheyenne had 49 points, and Word of Life scored one.

Carter won the 100 in 10.8 and the 200 in 22.2, Wright took the 110 hurdles in 20.6 and the 300 hurdles in 51.3, and Hines won the triple jump (44-10) and long jump 20-1½).

Chargers rout Warriors
At Western, Mucuranyana Amon, Nathaniel Tate and Alexander Floyd each won two events as Clark breezed to a 111-18 win over the Warriors.

Amon won the 1,600 in 4:53.5 and the 3,200 in 11:13. Tate swept the hurdles, winning the 110 in 19.4 and the 300 in 44.1. Floyd took the shot put (41-1) and the discus (96-8½).

Teerlink, Bulldogs win three-team meet
At Mesquite, Tyson Teerlink won three events to lead Virgin Valley to victory over Desert Pines and Lincoln County.

Teerlink won the pole vault (14-0), long jump (19-6½) and shot put (43-0) for the Bulldogs, who finished with 84½ points.

Desert Pines (70) was second and Lincoln County (34½) third.

Dillon Graves won the 110 hurdles (16.8) and 300 hurdles (43.7) for Virgin Valley.

Desert Pines’ Eric Wilkes won the 100 (11.1) and 200 (22.9) and was second in the 400.
