Roundup: Kyu Kelly, Jake Phillips lead Gorman boys to win

Kyu Kelly and Jake Phillips each won two individual events Thursday to help host Bishop Gorman’s boys track team roll to a 125-14 win over Durango.

Kelly won the 100-meter dash in 11.0 seconds and the long jump with an effort of 20 feet, 11 inches. He also finished second in the 400.

Phillips won the 110 hurdles in 15.26 and the 300 hurdles in 39.99.

Gorman’s Cedric Tillman won the triple jump (40-1), was second in the high jump, third in the long jump and helped the Gaels’ 800 relay team to victory in 1:30.73.

Pahrump Valley wins six-team meet

At Pahrump, Morgan White won the shot put with an effort of 46-0½ and finished second in the discus to help Pahrump Valley win a six-team meet.

The Trojans had 220 points. Mojave was second with 166½ points, followed by Beatty (44), Sunrise Mountain (28½), Tonopah (22) and Indian Springs (17).

Mojave’s Noah Thompson won the 100 (10.8), 200 (22.0) and 400 (53.1), and teammate Isaiah Harper won the 110 hurdles (42.8) and the 300 hurdles (42.8) and was second in the high jump.

GIRLS

At Bishop Gorman, Miranda Quevedo and Jill McPherson each won one throwing event and finished second in the other to help the Gaels to a 112-25 win over Durango.

Quevedo had an effort of 35-4 in the shot put and was second in the discus. McPherson threw 126-11 to win the discus and took second in the shot put.

Durango’s Ajanae Cressey won the 100 hurdles (16.63) and 300 hurdles (48.22).

Kaylee Whitehead won the long jump (17-1), triple jump (34-5) and high jump (5-0) for the Australian Select team, which competed as a non-scoring squad. Australia’s Abbey Matsen won the 100 (12.76) and 200 (26.73).

Pahrump Valley wins six-team meet

At Pahrump, Elaina Dattillio won the triple jump (29-11) and high jump (4-10) to lead Pahrump Valley to victory in a six-team meet.

The Trojans had 160 points. Sunrise Mountain was second with 128, followed by Mojave (93), Tonopah (56), Round Mountain (5) and Beatty (4).

Pahrump’s Grace Plumb won the 3,200 in 13:47.8 and was third in the 1,600.

Sunrise Mountain’s Dior Griffith-Brown won the 100 (12.8) and 200 (26.0), and teammate Dalayna Bolin won the 100 hurdles (18.5) and the 300 hurdles (50.1) and was third in both the 100 and 200. The Miners’ Kapua Pulotu won the shot put (38-8¾) and the discus (129-1).

Mojave’s Anahi Rosales won the 1,600 (5:49.2), was second in the pole vault and was third in the 800.
