ROUNDUP: Mountain Lions use distance, hurdles to nab tri-meet win

Eddie Meneses and Matt Murphy each won two events Tuesday to carry Sierra Vista’s boys track team to 124 points and a home victory over Bishop Gorman (64½) and Indian Springs (8).

Meneses took the 1,600-meter run in 4 minutes, 56.2 seconds and the 3,200 in 11:23. He also finished second in the 800.
Murphy won the 110 hurdles (17.4) and 200 (23.3).

Bishop Gorman’s Desi Allazetta took the 300 hurdles (46.6) and high jump (5 feet, 8 inches).

Silverado tops Foothill
At Foothill, Ladale Jackson won the 100 (11.97) and 200 (21.8) to lead Silverado to a 91-55 win over the Falcons.

Tyrel Garner won the high jump (6-0) and long jump (19-1) for Foothill.

Legacy win three-team meet
At Cimarron-Memorial, Steffan Webb won the long jump (18-8½) and triple jump (38-11) to lead the Longhorns to victory with 81 points.

Faith Lutheran was second with 56, and Cimarron finished with 41.

John Cartier won the 100 (10.9) and 400 (50.8) for the Crusaders, and Cimarron’s Robert Thompson was first in the 800 (2:06.3) and 1,600 (4:40.5).

Kim, Porterfield lead Gators to win
At Green Valley, Julius Kim and Kyle Porterfield won two events each to lift the Gators (79½) past the Cougars (67½).

Kim took the 800 (2:03.8) and 1,600 (4:35.8), and Porterfield picked up wins in the 300 hurdles (43.0) and long jump (19-10).

Coronado’s Matt Chavaria won the 100 (11.4) and 200 (23.0).

Durango, Pahrump lead four-team meet
At Durango, the Trailblazers and Pahrump Valley each finished with 84 points to lead the way in a four-team meet.

Durango’s Eric Underhill won the shot put (44-3) and discus (112-11), and Pahrump Valley’s Bryce Moser was first in the 800 (2:10) and 1,600 (4:43).
