ROUNDUP: Onyema wins three individual events at Heitkotter Invite

Faith Lutheran's Krystal Onyema won three indivdiual events and ran on a winning relay team at the Heitkotter Invitational at Faith Lutheran on Saturday.

Onyema was first in the long jump (15 feet, 11¼ inches), triple jump (36-4) and shot put (36-0). She also ran on the winning 400-meter relay team.

Foothill captured the girls team title with 148¼ points. Pahrump Valley (146½) was second and Faith Lutheran  (125) third.

Foothill won four individual events and the 3,200-meter relay. Dominique Clough won the 400 (1 minute, 3.32 seconds), Sage Long won the 800 (2:38.9), Emma Hull won the 1,600 (5:50.7) and Lena Laengle won the 100 hurdles (16.5) for the Falcons.

In the boys meet, Foothill won three relays and two individual events to claim the team title with 177 points.

Moapa Valley (103) was second and Boulder City (97) third.

Miles Killebrew won the 300 hurdles (41.39) and Mike Whitaker was first in the high jump (6-0) for the Falcons.

Moapa Valley's Chase Witter and Josh Thompson each won two events. Witter won the 400 (51.07) and 800 (2:05.4), and Thompson won the 1,600 (4:38.3) and 3,200 (10:15.9).

Bishop Gorman's Demetris Morant was first in the long jump (19-6¾) and triple jump (40-10).

Centennial’s girls won six events to capture the team title at the Viking Relays at Valley.
 
The Bulldogs claimed the 400-, 800- and 3,200-meter relay, along with the long-jump relay, high-jump relay and pole-vault relay to finish with 101 points.

Palo Verde (74) was second and Coronado (69) finished third.

In the boys meet, Silverado won two events and finished with 76½ points to win the team title.

Centennial (70) was second and Palo Verde (60) third.

Liberty girls win 5A state track title; tie for boys crown

The Liberty girls track team won the Class 5A state title Saturday, snapping Centennial’s run of 10 straight crowns. Liberty and Faith Lutheran are boys co-champions.
