ROUNDUP: Trio helps Palo Verde boys cruise to home win

Nahjee Matlock, Nick Cobb and Stephon Fitzgerald each won two events to propel Palo Verde’s boys track team to victory in a four-team home meet Thursday.

Palo Verde won with 143 points, topping Spring Mountain (53), Faith Lutheran (47) and Lincoln County (16).

Matlock won the 100-meter dash in 10.9 seconds and the 200 in 22.5.

Cobb took the 800 in 2:12 and the 1,600 in 4:59.2.

Fitzgerald won the 110 hurdles in 15.9 and the 300 hurdles in 41.4.

Spring Mountain’s Roemello Brandon won the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches, and the triple jump at 39-10.

Bibbs, Gordon lead Wolves in victory
At Basic, Chris Bibbs won the 100 (11.28) and 200 (23.3), and Bryson Gordon took the 110 hurdles (15.96) and 300 hurdles (42.7) to lead the Wolves past Del Sol and Boulder City.

Basic had 77 points, followed by the Dragons (50) and the Eagles (48).

Bonanza rolls to win
At Desert Oasis, Jayveon Taylor, Brandon Knox and Kyle Tinnell each won a pair of events to lead Bonanza to victory in a three-team meet with 106 points.

Desert Oasis had 66, and Calvary Chapel was third with 14.

Taylor won the 100 (10.9) and 200 (21.7), Knox took the 110 hurdles (16.5) and 300 hurdles (42.9) and Tinnell won the long jump (19-11) and triple jump (37-5).

Desert Oasis’ Jacob Benham won the shot put (47-0½) and discus (144-0).

Carlson leads Trojans to victory
At Bishop Gorman, Michael Carlson won two events to lift Pahrump Valley (90) past Gorman (70) and Western (23).

Carlson won the 110 hurdles in 16.8 and the 300 hurdles in 44.6.

Gorman’s Demetris Morant took the high jump at 6-5, the long jump at 21-8 and the triple jump at 44-0.
