ROUNDUP: Triple winner Anderson sparks Pahrump Valley victory

Alex Anderson won three events to lead the Pahrump Valley boys track and field team to a tri-meet victory over visiting Bishop Gorman and Beatty on Tuesday.

Anderson won the long jump (19 feet, 5 inches), high jump (6-0) and triple jump (43-5½).

The Trojans scored 125½ points, topping Gorman (41½) and Beatty (16).

Pahrump’s Nick Stearns won the 110 hurdles (15.5 seconds) and pole vault (11-0), and teammate Steve Schmidt took the shot put (44-11½) and discus (108-6).

Valley rides trio of double winners to victory
At Valley, three double winners led the host Vikings to a tri-meet victory over Desert Pines and Trinity.

Valley’s Alex Collins took the 800 (2:05.1) and 1,600 (4:30.6), Dominic Orr won the 110 hurdles (15.8) and 300 hurdles (48.1) and

Aniseko Fiato captured the shot put (44-0) and discus (116-5).

Valley rolled up 120½ points, topping Desert Pines (46) and Trinity (10½).

Adkins, Anderson lead Wildcats to win
At Las Vegas, Aaron Adkins and Tyree Anderson won two events each to lead the host Wildcats to a tri-meet victory over Virgin Valley and Canyon Springs.

Adkins won the 400 (50.7) and 800 (2:01.1), and Anderson took the high jump (6-0) and long jump (19-5½).

Las Vegas scored 85 points, topping Virgin Valley (50) and Canyon Springs (46).

Virgin Valley’s Blake Leavitt won the 110 hurdles (18.0) and discus (103-3½).

Thomas leads Palo Verde to tri-meet win
At Centennial, Chaz Thomas won the shot put (46-0) and discus (152-7½) to lead Palo Verde past Centennial and Spring Mountain with 102 points.

Centennial had 65 and Spring Mountain 18.

Liberty runs past Foothill, Calvary Chapel
At Liberty, Al Galan, Shaun Murray and Anthony Norris each won two events for Liberty, which finsished first wint 94 points.

Foothill was second at78, and Calvary Chapel had 14.

Murray won the 100 (10.8) and 200 (22.1). Galan was first in the 1,600 (4:48) and 3,200 (10:44.3), and Norris won the 110 hurdles (14.4) and 300 hurdles (no time).
 

GIRLS

Ewing, McJunkin lead Trojans to win
At Pahrump, Melissa Ewing and Taylor McJunkin each won two events to lift Pahrump to a tri-meet victory over Bishop Gorman and Beatty.

Ewing won the 100 hurdles (17.4) and 300 hurdles (52.5), and McJunkin took the 200 (27.4) and long jump (14-10).

McCullah lifts Vikings to win
At Valley, Markesha McCullah won three events to lift the host Vikings to a tri-meet win over Desert Pines and Trinity.

McCullah took the 100 hurdles (17.9), long jump (14-7) and triple jump (33-1).

Valley’s Desirea Rivas won the 1,600 (6:31.1) and 3,200 (13:05.1), and Aliza Robinson took the 300 hurdles (53.9) and pole vault (7-6).

Valley scored 130 points, ahead of Desert Pines (43) and Trinity (7).

Wildcats take five events, tri-meet
At Las Vegas, the host Wildcats won five events on their way to 62 points and a narrow tri-meet victory over Canyon Springs (60) and Virgin Valley (34).

Canyon Springs’ Jamila Pullum won the 200 (27.3) and 400 (1:02.8).

Davis, Shaw lead Bulldogs past Palo Verde
At Centennial, Tatijana Davis and Takara Shaw each won two events to lead the Bulldogs to an 86-60 win over Palo Verde.

Davis won the 100 hurdles (17.8) and triple jump (36-0). Shaw was first in the shot put (37-3¼) and discus (94-0).

Rush, Leedy lead Falcons to tri-meet win
At Liberty, Dencia Rush and Leah Leedy each won three events to lead Foothill past Liberty and Calvary Chapel.

The Falcons had 112 points, followed by Liberty (52) and Calvary Chapel (13).

Rush won the 100 (12.7), 200 (27.0) and triple jump (33-9). Leedy was first in the 800 (2:34.1), 1,600 (5:49.1) and 3,200 (12:50.3).

McCall Sidner won the 100 hurdles (16.5) and long jump (15-2 ½) for Foothill.
