ROUNDUP: Utomi leads Sierra Vista boys to tri-meet victory

Edred Utomi won three events Monday to lead the Sierra Vista boys track and field team to a tri-meet victory over visiting Faith Lutheran and Desert Oasis.
Utomi won the 110-meter hurdles (15.4 seconds), 200 (23.5) and long jump (19 feet, 7 inches).
He helped the Mountain Lions roll up 81 points, topping Faith Lutheran (64½) and Desert Oasis (37½).
Also for Sierra Vista, Juan Martin took the 800 (2:08.4) and 1,600 (4:54.8).
Faith Lutheran’s Paul Morton won the shot put (45-1) and discus (131-8).

Coronado edges Chaparral to win tri-meet

At Coronado, Kody Rock and Jake Krukowski went 1-2 in both hurdle races to lead the Cougars past Chaparral and Boulder City.
Coronado finished with 68 points. Chaparral was second with 65, and Boulder City had 53.
Rock and Krukowski both ran the 110 hurdles in 15.5 seconds. Krukowski won the 300 hurdles in 43.6, with Rock second at 44.4.
Chaparral’s Joeal Hotchkins was first in the 100 (10.7) and 200 (21.8). Boulder City’s Matt Lundgren won the 1,600 (4:48.1) and 3,200 (10:32.7).

Bryson wins twice as Cheyenne boys sweep
At Cheyenne, Terrence Bryson won the 100 (10.9) and 200 (22.8) to help the Desert Shields win a three-team meet.

Cheyenne, which won 10 of the 17 contested events, had 100 points. Legacy was second (56) and The Meadows third (4).

Aggies rout Mojave
At Mojave, Jordan Miller won the shot put (47-3) and discus (121-7) to lead Arbor View to a 105-39 win over the Rattlers.

Lee, Allgood pace Legacy to win
At Cheyenne, Unique Lee and Avione Allgood each won two individual events to help Legacy defeat Cheyenne and The Meadows.
 
Lee won the 100 hurdles (17.7) and the long jump (31-4). Allgood won the shot put (39-11) and discus (133-8).
The Longhorns finished with 78 points, four more than Cheyenne. The Meadows had 15 points.
Cheyenne’s Jennifer Gray won the 200 (26.3) and 400 (1:00.5).

Mayo, Onyema lead Crusaders to win
At Sierra Vista, Faith Lutheran’s Kiah Mayo and Krystal Onyema won two events each to lead the Crusaders to 82 points and a tri-meet win over Sierra Vista (63) and Desert Oasis (35).

Mayo won the 200 (29.0) and high jump (5-0), and Onyema took the long jump (15-2) and triple jump (34-6).

Arbor View rolls past Rattlers
At Mojave, Arbor View’s Brittany Holland won the 300 hurdles (53.7) and pole vault (7-6) to lead the Aggies to a 109-29 win over the Rattlers.

Mojave’s Tashahni Thomas won the 400 (1:07.5) and triple jump (29-4½).

Laurent, Coronado girls roll to win in three-team meet
At Coronado, Michaelanne Laurent won the 800 (2:25.8) and 1,600 (5:25.1) to lead the Cougars to the win with 101 points.
Chaparral (64) was second and Boulder City (17) third.
Chaparral’s Tierra Williams won the 200 (26.0) and 400 (1:04.0).

Liberty girls win 5A state track title; tie for boys crown

The Liberty girls track team won the Class 5A state title Saturday, snapping Centennial’s run of 10 straight crowns. Liberty and Faith Lutheran are boys co-champions.
