Silverado’s Smallwood named Gatorade’s top track athlete

Silverado High jumper Dominic Smallwood has been named the Gatorade Nevada Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year.

Smallwood, a senior, won the long jump and the triple jump at the Division I state meet last month.

Smallwood posted a mark of 24 feet, 1¼ inches to win the long jump, and had a leap of 48-1½ to win the triple jump.

Smallwood, who has signed with Southern California, had a mark of 50-1 in the triple jump at the Sunrise Region meet, a jump that placed him No. 8 in the country according to dystat.com.
