SMALL SCHOOLS: Boulder City girls, boys sweep 3A Southern; Tobler wins three events

Boulder City’s Jessica Tobler won three events to carry the Eagles to the Class 3A Southern League girls track championship in Overton.

Tobler won the 1,600-meter run Saturday in 5 minutes 30.46 seconds to go with wins in the 800 (2:32.26) and 3,200 (12:09.12) on Friday.

The Eagles finished with 79 points to top Moapa Valley (74) and Virgin Valley (33).

Moapa Valley’s Mallary Reid won the 100 hurdles (16.25), long jump (16 feet 3¾ inches) and triple jump (33-10).

In the boys meet, Boulder City won only five events, but held on for the team title with 68 points. Moapa Valley followed with 64, and Virgin Valley had 54.

Virgin Valley’s Tyson Teerlink set a meet record in the pole vault with a mark of 14-7. He also won the long jump (20-3).

Moapa Valley’s Austin Prisbrey won the 400 (52.22) and 800 (2:06.58), and teammate Sean McConnell won the 110 hurdles (16.85) and 300 hurdles (41.44).

CLASS 2A

The Meadows’ Lauren Henry, Jinks Heerema and Taylor O’Neal each won two events to lead the Mustangs to the girls championship with 184 points.

Henry won the 100 (12.42) and 200 (26.34), Heerema won the 800 (2:27.8) and 1,600 (5:52.27) and O’Neal won the 100 hurdles (16.36) and 300 hurdles (50.15).

White Pine was second in the team standings with 157.

Calvary Chapel’s Cortney Miller won the shot put (35-5½) and discus (121-9).

White Pine won the boys meet with 191 points, with Laughlin second at 163.

Laughlin’s Brian Romero won the 1,600 (5:07.99) and 3,200 (10:53.16).

The Meadows’ Kwaku Kufuor won the 110 hurdles (15.91) and 300 hurdles (41.69).

CLASS 1A

Spring Mountain’s Joseph Henry won the 100 (11.71) and shot put (45-8¾) and was second in the 200 (24.89) to lead the Eagles to the title with 255 points. Beatty was a distant second with 105.

Spring Mountain’s Montell Russum won the 110 hurdles (15.83) and 300 hurdles (42.43). Beatty’s Dakota Dawson was first in the 800 (2:08.69), pole vault (9-6) and long jump (20-0½).

In the girls meet, Beatty finished first with 246 points, easily outdistancing second-place Indian Springs (136).

Zuri Pimentel won the 1,600 (6:30.46) and 3,200 (13:42.19), and Ana Martinez won the 100 (14.07) and pole vault (7-0)  for Beatty.

Indian Springs’ Erika Carpenter won the 400 (1:04.17) and high jump (4-8).
