Sunrise Mountain 2013 Boys Track Capsule

SUNRISE MOUNTAIN

Head coach: Ky Edwards, third season

Returning lettermen: 18

Top athletes: Manny Hernandez (Jr.), Sherman Nash (Jr.), Daniel Marquez (Sr.), James Donohoo (Sr.), Jesus Pena (Sr.)

Outlook: The Miners bring back three of the members of last year's Class 4A state champion 1,600 relay team (Hernandez, Nash and Marquez), along with the team's alternate.

Edwards is hopeful the Miners can compete for the team title at state.

"We will be very strong as a team," Edwards said. "We will be well-rounded in all events. We've added several outstanding athletes who will help in the field events and in relays.

"Throwers will be much improved, and that should give us the extra edge we have not had."
