TRACK: Centennial boys, girls take Sunset freshmen-sophomore meet

Savon Scarver won one individual event and finished second in two others Friday to help host Centennial’s boys track team to victory in the Division I Sunset Region freshmen-sophomore track and field meet.
The Bulldogs finished with 129 points to narrowly edge runner-up Bishop Gorman (123). Mojave was third with 69 points.
Scarver was first in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 15.79 seconds. He was second in the 100 and 300 hurdles.
Centennial’s James Johnson was first in the triple jump at 39 feet, 11 inches, and finished second in the long jump.
Tyjon Lindsey was a triple winner for Gorman. He edged Scarver by one-hundreth of a second in the 100 (11.55) and also was first in the 200 (22.85) and the 300 hurdles (40.4).
Mojave’s Enrique Jimenez won the 1,600 (4:39.52) and was second in the 800.
GIRLS
Karina Haymore and Alexis Gourrier each won two events as Centennial captured the team title.
The Bulldogs had 144 points, with Arbor View (110) in second place and Palo Verde (85½) third.
Haymore was first in the 400 (56.66) and the 800 (2:19.24), while Gourrier won the 1,600 in 5:18.50 and the 3,200 in 11:10.94.
Arbor View sprinter Aelicia Taylor was the meet’s only other double-winner as she took the 100 (13.13) and the 200 (26.19).
