TRACK: Centennial’s Nutter wins three events at Sunset Frosh-Soph Championships

Centennial’s Anyah Nutter won three boys events on Friday at the Sunset Region Frosh-Soph Championships at Arbor View.

Nutter swept the hurdles, taking the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.11 seconds, and winning the 300 low hurdles in 42.17.

He also won the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 2 inches.

Bishop Gorman finished first in the boys team standings with 99 points, edging second-place Palo Verde (98½). Cimarron-Memorial (88) was third, and Centennial (74) fourth.

Perry Jackson was first in the shot put (44-4) and second in the discus to lead Gorman.
Cimarron’s Garrick Quackenbush won two events, taking the 800 (2 minutes, 4.52 seconds) and 1,600 (4:35.58).

In the girls meet, Arbor View’s Brianna Arvizo won the 100 hurdles (18.26) and 300 hurdles (50.99) to help the Aggies to victory with 167 points.

Palo Verde (131½) was second, and Centennial (70½) third.

Palo Verde’s Bailey Dunlap won the 1,600 (5:34.65) and 3,200 (12:19.05), and teammate Shakiya Hollis was first in the shot put (31-7) and discus (94-7).

Izquierdo leads Cowboys to win

At Overton, Chaparral's Lester Izquierdo won three individual events to help the Cowboys capture the boys title at the Division I-A, III and IV Frosh-Soph Championships.

Izquierdo was first in the 100 (11.44), 200 (23.47) and 400 (51.9). He also ran on the winning 800 relay team for the Cowboys, who finished with 145½ points.

Faith Lutheran (127½) was second, and Boulder City (107) third.

Faith Lutheran's Mark Rubalcaba also won three events, placing first in the high jump (5-10), long jump (25-5¾) and triple jump (42-10¾).

Boulder City's Brooks Roe won the 110 hurdles (17.87) and 300 hurdles (45.14), and Desert Pines' Abdirahman Mohamad was first in the 800 (2:03.98) and 1,600 (4:46.18).

In the girls meet, Faith Lutheran's Clarissa Maxey won three individual events and ran on a winning relay as the Crusaders rolled to the title.

Maxey won the 100 (12.5), 200 (26.09) and 400 (59.34), and ran a leg of the winning 1,600 relay for the Crusaders, who had 167 points.

Pahrump Valley (66) was second, and Sunrise Mountain (65) and The Meadows (65) tied for third.

Faith Lutheran's Cayla Nikodemus won the high jump (5-0) and long jump (15-5¾) to help the Crusaders.

Mojave's Kationa Baughman was first in the 100 hurdles (17.95) and 300 hurdles (47.11).
