TRACK: Counts leads Cheyenne boys past Crusaders

 

Kamal Counts won three events Wednesday to lead host Cheyenne’s boys track team to a 77-59 win over Faith Lutheran.

Counts won the 110-meter hurdles in 17.2 seconds, the 300 hurdles in 45.8 and the triple jump with a distance of 38 feet, 11 inches.

The Desert Shields’ Rayvon Thomas took the 100 in 10.9 and the 200 in 22.7.

Faith Lutheran’s Mark Rubalcaba won the high jump (5-6) and the long jump (21-1).

Hicks, Gators top Rams
At Rancho, Alex Hicks won three events to lead Green Valley to an 85-54 win over the Rams.

Hicks was first in the high jump (6-0), long jump (21-5) and triple jump (42-6).

Shadon Anter added wins in the 200 (23.2) and 400 (53.6), and teammate Matt Nelson won the 110 hurdles (15.5) and 300 hurdles (41.1).

Rancho’s Naol Mahamud won the 1,600 (4:43.3) and 3,200 (10:07.8).

Harkins, Eagles top Bulldogs
At Boulder City, Chandler Harkins won three individual events to lead the Eagles to a 114-32 win over Virgin Valley.

Harkins won the 800 in 2:14.5, the 1,600 in 4:48.4 and the 3,200 in 10:39.0.

Xavier Steel added wins in the 100 (11.4) and 200 (23.7), Jacorey Dixon took the 400 (54.0) and 110 hurdles (15.9) and Christian Nilsen won the shot put (44-6) and discus (134-3) for Boulder City.

Virgin Valley’s Tyson Teerlink was first in the long jump (18-4) and pole vault (12-0).

Rattlers cruise past Chargers
At Clark, Isaiah Hyler and Jalon Dean each won two individual events, and Mojave swept the relays on the way to an 81-55 victory over Clark.

Hyler finished first in the 800 (2:08.9) and the 1,600 (4:50.5), and Dean swept the hurdle events, winning the 110s in 14.7 and the 300s in 41.3.

Alexander Floyd was Clark’s lone double-winner, taking the shot put (38-5) and discus (102-11).
