TRACK: Foothill boys edge Silverado

Foothill’s Charles Shepherd won the discus and placed third in the shot put, and the Falcons swept the relays to edge host Silverado 71-66 in boys track on Tuesday.

Sheperd won the discus with a throw of 119 feet, 4 inches.

Justin Meeks cleared 9-0 to win the pole vault for Foothill.

Silverado’s Omar Aguilar-Espinoza won the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 40.8 seconds, and took the 800 in 2:10.5.

Elijah Toussaint won the high jump (6-2) and long jump (21-7) for the Skyhawks.

GIRLS

Arianna Beasley won two individual events and ran on a winning relay team Tuesday to lead Foothill’s girls track team to an 85-52 win over host Silverado.

Beasley won the 200-meter dash in 27.6, and took the 400 in 1:02.8. She also ran on the winning 1,600 relay team.

Makenzie Flynn won the 800 (2:40.9) and 1,600 (5:50.1) for the Falcons, and teammate Frankie Morrill won the 100 hurdles (16.6), finished second in the 400 and ran on the 1,600 relay team.

Silverado’s Micayla Kelly won the long jump with a leap of 16-9½, and posted mark of 38-7 to win the triple jump.
