TRACK: Justin Pearson swept throws as Gators win tri-meet

Justin Pearson swept the throws Wednesday to lead Green Valley’s boys track team to victory in a three-team home meet.

Pearson took the shot put with a mark of 45 feet, 1 inch, and won the discus with a throw of 131-4.

Milton Amezcua won the 1,600-meter run in 4:53.59, and teammate Khari Bulter took the triple jump at 42-10½ for the Gators, who had 80 points.

Las Vegas was second with 65, and Silverado had 38.

Silverado’s Daniel Kneale won the 110 hurdles (15.46) and 300 hurdles (42.66).

Aaron Johnson won the long jump (21-3) and was second in the high jump and triple jump for Las Vegas. Elijah Hicks won the 200 (22.78) and was second in the 100 for the Wildcats.

Nikolas Bracken, Gaels storm to win

Nikolas Bracken won three events to help Bishop Gorman roll to victory in an eight-team meet at The Meadows.

Bracken won the 100 (10.7), the 200 (21.8) and long jump (22-1).

The Gaels scored 361½ points, easily outdistancing second-place Clark (92½).

Trevor Henry won the 400 in 49.9 and ran on the winning 3,200 relay team for Gorman.

GIRLS

At The Meadows, Devyn Rosenberg had a hand in three wins as Gorman cruised to the win in a six-team meet with 313 points.

Rosenberg won the 100 (12.5) and 200 (27.4) and ran on the winning 400 relay team for the Gaels, who finished almost 200 points ahead of second-place Clark (115).

Jayden Krmpotich won the 1,600 (6:03.9) and 3,200 (13:01.0) for Gorman, and teammate Jill McPherson-Kellogg was first in the shot put (33-8) and discus (91-4).

Green Valley takes home meet

At Green Valley, Deborah Grant, Amy Amezcua and Mia Smith each won two events as the Gators cruised past Silverado and Las Vegas.

Grant won the 100 (12.53) and 200 (25.69), Amezcua took the 400 (1:04.54) and 800 (2:29.43), and Smith took the 1,600 (5:43.16) and 3,200 (12:03.93) for the Gators, who had 95 points.

Silverado was second with 47, and Las Vegas had 41.

Teconna Dyer won the 300 hurdles (47.05) and was second in the 100 hurdles for Las Vegas.
