TRACK: Las Vegas boys win in Overton behind Cody Kludasch

Cody Kludasch won two individual events Wednesday to lead the Las Vegas boys track team to victory in a five-team meet in Overton.

Kludasch won the 100-meter dash in 11.42 seconds and the 400 in 52.46 to give the Wildcats a team score of 159. Green Valley came in second with a score of 127⅓. Moapa Valley (37⅔) was third, followed by Cheyenne (21) and Pahranagat Valley (18).

The Wildcats also received track victories from Eric Williams in the 200 (22.73) and Quran Muhammed in the 300 hurdles (42.26). Marlon Harrison won the high jump with a height of 6 feet, Aaron Johnson won the long jump (20-9½), and Bryan Acosta won the discus (122-4) to give the Wildcats victories in the field events.

Milton Amezcua won the 1,600 (4:56.73) and 3,200 (10:22.11) for the Gators.

Green Valley won the girls meet, aided by five individual victories and a sweep of the relays.

The Gators scored 139 team points, followed by Las Vegas (99), Cheyenne (52), Moapa Valley (50) and Pahranagat Valley (2).

On the track, Isabel Madrid won the 100 hurdles (16.17), Deborah Grant won the 100 (12.53), Amy Amezcua won the 800 (2:29.58), and Mia Smith won the 1,600 (5:46.79). Emily Marcum won the pole vault (10-6).

Maritzia Robinson won the triple jump (33-1½) and high jump (4-6) for the Wildcats, and teammate Cjenna Heiden won the shot put (37-6) and discus (102-6).

Silverado sweeps three-team meet

At Canyon Springs, Daniel Kneale’s victories in the 110 hurdles (15.9) and 300 hurdles (41.03) helped Silverado’s boys track team defeat Canyon Springs and Indian Springs.

The Skyhawks won with 67 points. The Pionners were second with 64 points, followed by Indian Springs with 6 points.

Jabari Utley won the 200 (23.3) and 400 (53.5) for the Pioneers.

Silverado won the girls meet with a team score of 86. Canyon Springs was second with 38, and Indian Springs scored 1.

Iyani Hayden won the 100 hurdles (16.0) and long jump (16-9) for the Pioneers.

Centennial rolls at The Meadows

At The Meadows, Talie Bonds won three events to help Centennial’s girls track team dominate a five-team meet.

Bonds won the 100 hurdles (14.87), 300 hurdles (45.82) and the high jump (5-2) for Centennial. Ashley Moore won the long jump (16-6¾) and the triple jump (34-5) for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs scored 297 points to defeat Shadow Ridge (147), The Meadows (37), Beatty (23) and Laughlin (19).

Jeremiah Steed won the triple jump (42-6) and long jump (19-10) to help the Centennial boys team run away on its side.

The Bulldogs scored 268½ points, which was better than Shadow Ridge (161), Beatty (57½), The Meadows (38), Laughlin (10) and Lake Mead (2).

Jose Granados won the 1,600 run (4:54.88) and 3,200 run (10:46.0) for the Hornets.
