TRACK: R.J. McCarter leads Bonanza past Sierra Vista

R.J. McCarter won three events and was second in another Wednesday to lead Bonanza’s boys track team to an 82-64 home win over Sierra Vista.

McCarter swept the hurdles, taking the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.9 seconds and the 300 low hurdles in 42.3. He also cleared 6 feet, 2 inches to win the high jump and was second in the triple jump.

Joey Fox won the 100 (10.8) and 200 (22.8) and ran on the winning 400 and 800 relay teams for the Bengals.

Bonanza’s Brandon Adams was first in the 1,600 (4:44.4) and 3,200 (11:13.7).

Sierra Vista’s Erik Killgore and Devon Faison finished one-two in the throws. Killgore won the shot put with a toss of 48-1, and Faison took the discus with a mark of 141-7.

Edgar Molina won the 400 (52.7) and ran on the winning 1,600 relay for the Mountain Lions, and teammate Ralph Perez was first in the 800 (2:12.4) and ran on the winning 3,200 relay.

Clark claims three-team meet

At Desert Oasis, Semaj Taylor and Liam Jones each won two events to lead Clark to victory in a three-team meet.

Taylor won the 200 (22.38) and 400 (50.97), and Jones was first in the 1,600 (4:36.86) and 3,200 (10:14.49) for the Chargers, who had 63 points.

Spring Valley was second with 55½, and Desert Oasis had 54½.

Trevor Pearl won the 800 (2:07.62) and was second in the 1,600 for Clark.

Spring Valley’s Michael Canada was first in the long jump (17-10) and triple jump (36-5), and Desert Oasis’ Nick Benham won the shot put (56-9) and discus (174-4).

Aggies run away with victory at home

At Arbor View, Gabriel Lopez won two events to lead the Aggies to victory in a three-team meet.

Lopez won the long jump (20-2½) and pole vault (12-0). He also placed third in the triple jump and sixth in the high jump for Arbor View, which finished with 105½ points. Shadow Ridge was second with 54½ points, followed by Spring Mountain with 26.

Dayton Hunter won the high jump (5-10) and was second in the long jump and triple jump for Arbor View.

Spring Mountain’s Ka’ron Shomo won the 110 hurdles (16.99) and triple jump (40-7). He also was fourth in the high jump and long jump.

GIRLS

Emma Zeigler, Mountain Lions edge Bengals

At Bonanza, Emma Zeiger won the 400 (1:01.1) and was part of the winning 800, 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams to lead Sierra Vista to a 72-64 win over the Bengals.

Sarriah Brown won the 800 (2:25.3) and ran on the 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams for the Mountain Lions.

Audra Billingsley won the 1,600 (6:08.2), ran on the 3,200 relay team and was second in the 3,200, and teammate Iymoni Burrell won the 100 hurdles (16.9) and ran on the 800 relay team for the Mountain Lions.

Bonanza’s Zowie Manuma won the shot put (36-6½) and discus (91-7).

Desert Oasis wins home meet

At Desert Oasis, Aayzia Dumas won the 200 (27.18) and 400 (1:04.76) to lead the Diamondbacks to victory over Clark and Spring Valley.

Desert Oasis finished with 76½ points. Spring Valley was second with 66½, and the Chargers had 41.

Chiori Hart won the triple jump (31-2) and was second in the long jump for the Diamondbacks.

Clark’s Sandybell Avila won the 800 (2:44.12) and 1,600 (6:02.15).

Aggies down Mustangs in dual

At Arbor View, Danielle Walker won two individual events to help the Aggies earn a 100-46 victory over Shadow Ridge.

Walker was first in the 800 in a time of 2:42.47 and also won the 1,600 in 5:58.22.

Esther Marcos won the triple jump (34-0) and was second in the 100 hurdles and third in the pole vault for Arbor View.

Shadow Ridge’s Amari Washington won the 100 hurdles in 17.42 and was second in the long jump and triple jump.
