TRACK: Wood, Rubalcaba help Crusaders win Boulder City Invitational

Chase Wood and Mark Rubalcaba each finished first in two individual events Friday to help Faith Lutheran’s boys track team win the Boulder City Invitational.

The Crusaders led the 17-team field with 148 points. Boulder City was second with 101. Mojave took third with 81 points, three more than fourth-place Pahrump Valley.

Wood won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 5 seconds and was first in the 1,600 in 4:39.8.

Rubalcaba sprinted to victory in the 100 in 11.58 and was first in the triple jump with a distance of 46 feet, 1½ inches.

Pahrump’s Devon Montgomery swept the hurdle events, winning the 110 in 15.55 and the 300 in 41.33.

The Meadows’ Mark Woodson won both throwing events, taking the shot put with an effort of 49-3 and throwing 153-0 in the discus.

In the girls meet, Clarissa Maxey and Cayla Nikodemus each took two individual events as Faith Lutheran ran away with the team title.

The Crusaders had 204½ points to top the 17-team field. The Meadows was second with 84½. White Pine was third with 72½, with Mojave right behind with 72.

Maxey won the 200 in 25.87 and the 400 in 57.29. Nikodemus won the 100 in 12.59 and the long jump with an effort of 17-6½.

The Meadows’ Jeneke Heerema won the 800 in 2:32.59 and the 1,600 in 5:35.02.

Mojave’s Kationa Baughman claimed the 100 hurdles in 17.85 and the 300 hurdles in 45.9
