Boys roundup: Trio guides Bonanza to tri-meet victory

Joey Fox, Bryant Troupe and Cevion Gurka each won one individual event and ran on two winning relays Thursday to help host Bonanza’s boys track team to a win over Clark and Democracy Prep.
Fox won the 100-meter dash in 11.32 seconds. Troupe and Gurka tied for first in the 200 in 24.11. All three ran on the Bengals’ winning 400 and 800 relay teams.
Hans Tanael won the pole vault, clearing 11 feet, and was second in the 300 hurdles for Bonanza, which finished with 87 points. Clark had 71, and Democracy Prep scored eight.
Democracy Prep’s Marlon Larrie won the discus (118-7) and was second in the shot put.
Desert Oasis wins tri-meet
At Durango, Micah Walker swept the throwing events to lead Desert Oasis to a win over Durango and Calvary Chapel.
Walker threw 116-7 to win the discus and took the shot put with an effort of 38-9.
Desert Oasis’ Malcolm McGruder won the long jump with a mark of 18-8, ran on the winning 400 relay team and was second in the 200.
The Diamondbacks finished with 83 points. Durango had 67 points, and Calvary Chapel had 16.
Durango’s Justin Johnson won the 100 (11.1) and 200 (23.3) and ran on the winning 800 relay team, and teammate William McMahon took the 800 (2:12.3) and 1,600 (4:58.6).
