Girls roundup: Moapa Valley wins five-team meet

Ashlyn Western and Natalie Mills each won one individual event, finished second in another and ran on a winning relay team Wednesday to help Moapa Valley’s girls track team win a five-team meet at Del Sol.

Western won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 43.57 seconds, was second in the 400 and ran a leg of the winning 1,600 relay. Mills won the 300 hurdles in 48.69, was second in the 100 hurdles and helped the Pirates’ 800 relay team to victory.

Andrea Mogren won the triple jump with a mark of 29 feet, 8 inches and was second in the long jump for Moapa Valley, which finished with 130 points. Virgin Valley was second with 104, followed by Del Sol (58), Laughlin (36) and Lake Mead (22).

Virgin Valley’s Alyssa Ponce won the 1,600 in 6:07.19 and was second in the 3,200.

Lake Mead’s Lauren Byrnes won the 100 (13.35) and the 400 (1:04.21) and was second in the 200.

Centennial defeats Faith Lutheran

At Faith Lutheran, Kennedy Brace won two individual events and ran on the winning 800 and 1,600 relay teams to lead Centennial to a 101-40 win over the Crusaders.

Brace won the 200 in 25.55 and the 400 in 58.52.

The Bulldogs’ Alexis Gourrier won the 1,600 in 5:21.76 and the 3,200 in 11:53.81, and teammate Quincy Bonds won the 100 hurdles in 15.0 and the 300 hurdles in 46.42.

Centennial’s Ashley Moore won the triple jump (38-0¼) and was second in the 100 hurdles and the long jump.

Faith Lutheran’s Sanniyah Haye won the shot put (33-6½) and the discus (103-9½).

Arbor View wins three-team meet

At Arbor View, Hannah Esparza, Elaine Bruestle and Madison Eckert each won one individual event and finished second in another to lead the Aggies past Shadow Ridge and Somerset-Losee.

Esparza won the 400 in 58.14 and was second in the 200. Bruestle won the 1,600 in 5:45.47 and was second in the 800. Eckert won the 100 hurdles in 17.58 and was second in the 300 hurdles.

Arbor View finished with 137 points. Shadow Ridge was second with 102, and Somerset-Losee had 9.

Shadow Ridge’s Abigail Zuhlke won the shot put (29-6) and discus (109-4), and teammate Dayvian Diaz won the long jump (14-10) and the 200 (25.02).

Palo Verde downs Legacy, Cimarron

At Legacy, Teyah Holliday won the 400 in 1:00.5 and finished third in the 100 to help Palo Verde defeat Legacy and Cimarron-Memorial.

The Panthers finished with 59½ points. Legacy had 55 points, and Cimarron had 31½.

Legacy’s C’Aree Stevenson won the 100 (12.2), 200 (25.1) and long jump (16-0). The Longhorns’ Makaylah Celestin won the 100 hurdles in 17.3 and the 300 hurdles in 53.5, and teammate Amayah Dondle won the discus with a throw of 87-8 and was second in the shot put.

Cimarron’s Kylie Springman won the shot put (29-0) and was third in the discus.
