GIRLS TRACK: Gill wins three events as Aggies win three-team meet

Ariona Gill won three events Tuesday to lead host Arbor View’s girls track team to victory in a three-team meet.
Gill won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.5 seconds, and also won the long jump (16 feet, 4 inches) and triple jump (35-11). Gill also placed third in the high jump.
Alexandra Miller won the shot put (30-9) and discus (82-1) for the Aggies, who finished first with 183½ points. Bonanza was second with 64½, and Quest Academy had 6.
Grizzlies capture four-team meet
At Spring Valley, Cheyenne Charles won the 100 hurdles (17.9) and was second in the 300 hurdles to lead the Grizzles to the win in a four-team home meet.
Cashmere Buford won the 100 (13.7), and Mardene Decoud won the 200 (27.3) for Spring Valley, which had 88 points. The Meadows was second with 81, followed by Moapa Valley (53) and Laughlin (23).
The Meadows’ Cassidy Gosse and Dani Chami each won two events. Gosse won the discus (101-6) and shot put (28-4½), and Chami won the long jump (16-9½) and pole vault (8-6).
Moapa Valley’s Matilda Thompson won the 800 (2:54.0) and 1,600 (6:37.0).
Bulldogs top Diamondbacks
At Centennial, Kayla Roberts, Elize Larsen and Lauren Ritter each won two individual events to lead the Bulldogs to a 111-35 win over Desert Oasis.
Roberts won the 1,600 (5:21.4) and 3,200 (12:05.4), Larsen took the 100 (12.9) and 200 (26.8) and Ritter won the long jump (15-3) and pole vault (8-0).
Girard helps Gaels to victory
At Durango, Taylor Girard won the 200 in 27.8 and took the long jump with an effort of 14-4 to help Bishop Gorman win a three-team meet.
The Gaels had 78.5 points. Durango was second with 57, followed by Calvary Chapel with 26.5.
Durango’s Eyerusalem Ashenafi won the 800 (2:45.2), the 1,600 (5:54.2) and the 3,200 (13:43.5).
