GIRLS TRACK: Liberty easily wins three-team home meet

Cindy Avila and Skyler Free each won two individual events Wednesday to lead Liberty’s girls track team to victory in a three-team home meet.

Avila won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.9 seconds, and took the 300 hurdles in 51.4. Free won the 800 in 2:39.2, and the 1,600 in 5:34.1

Sydney Groom won the 400 (1:02.7) and also ran on the winning 800 and 1,600 relay teams for the Patriots, who finished first with 111½ points. Valley (64½) was second and Indian Springs (3) was third.

Valley’s Eimainei Thomas-Palmer won the triple jump (36-8¼), long jump (15-6¼) and high jump (4-6).

Crusaders win home meet

At Faith Lutheran, Brenna Rohnkohl won the 400 (1:02.85) and ran on the winning 1,600 relay team to lead the Crusaders to the win in a five-team meet.

Rohnkohl also finished second in the 200 for Faith Lutheran, which had 167 points. Boulder City was second with 74, followed by Pahrump Valley (70), Virgin Valley (47) and Pahranagat Valley (1).

Faith Lutheran’s Cayla Nikodemus won the 100 (12.26) and ran on the 1,600 relay team, and teammate Haley Vinson won the long jump (15-9) and ran on the 1,600 relay team.

Virgin Valley’s Taylor Bryant won the 100 hurdles (16.56) and the pole vault (9-6). Boulder City’s Sierrra Selinger won the 1,600 (5:53.04) and 3,200 (12:33.01).

Pahrump’s Meghan McDermott was first in the triple jump (31-0) and second in the long jump, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

Gators roll past Wolves

At Green Valley, the Gators won all but one event to top Basic, 125-17.

Amy Amezcua, Isabel Madrid and Eboni Thomas each finished first in two individual events for Green Valley.

Amezcua won the 800 (2:32.66) and 1,600 (5:50.4), and Madrid won the 100 hurdles (16.48) and 300 hurdles (50.95).

Thomas won the triple jump (34-4½) and tied teammate Yamilei Rodriguez in the long jump with a mark of 15-7.

Wildcats top Pioneers

At Canyon Springs, Dajsia Blackshire swept the hurdles, and Cjenna Heider swept the throws to lead Las Vegas to a 109-48 win over the Pioneers.

Blackshire won the 100 hurdles in 17.6 and the 300 hurdles in 53.9. Heider posted a mark of 29-1 in the shot put and won the discus with a distance of 94-9.

Canyon Springs’ Alyviah Brouchet won the 100 (12.1) and 200 (25.2), and teammate Ashamii Henderson took the long jump (14-6) and triple jump (31-6).
